Pro Reviews: Those Were The Days: Love Theme From Romeo Juliet

  • All Music Guide

Combining two of the three albums Percy Faith released in 1969 on one compact disc, Those Were the Days/Love Theme from "Romeo and Juliet" is another collection of sugarysweet Faith renditions of the pop music of the time. Faith certainly had a way with an orchestra, and though his way generally was over the top and friendly easy listening, Faith was a master at revealing understated dark characteristics that hid behind the saccharine naïveté of these songs. There are moments on this collection that display his prowess, but for the most part this is on the lighter side of Percy Faith's contributions.
