In 1976, British prog rock/jazz fusion veteran Charles Hayward (Quiet Sun, the Amazing Band, Gong; percussion, keyboards, vocals) formed the more experimental This Heat with Charles Bullen (guitar, viola, clarinet, vocals) and Gareth Williams (bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals). Hayward and Bullen met in 1972, when the former answered an ad in ~Melody Maker; the two formed a short-lived duo called Radar Favourites and, in 1974, Dolphic Logic.
