With all the crap that everyone else has put out lately its no wonder people are ripping cds. But this one cd that is so beautiful that you actually feal emotion. It is priceless. Well worth the ten bucks i paid for at best buy. This band gets yo...u buy the heart and makes you feel again. To all you so called rock stars out there pick this cd up you really will learn a lot. There is no way to emphasize how awesome this cd is. It's incredible. My personal favorites are "The Noose", "Blue", "Vanishing", and "The Nurse Who Loved Me". Musically they are some of the most beautiful ...songs I have ever heard. I was astonished the first listen because it didn't really duplicate "Mer De Noms", their first album, but grew from it. This album is actually pretty awesome. At first it doesn't seem like it will be because it is so much different than their first one, but after listening to it a few times you really start to get attached. "The Noose" sends chills down ...my spine. Same feeling I got when listening to "Brena" on Mer De Noms. By far the best song on the album is "The Outsider", which, also, is quite possibly the best song by APC period. Read more Less

The album sends you on a dimly lit journey within yourself, forcing you deeper into your subconscious. Pros: You just have to experience it for yourself...there's no explaining it.

Cons: The first track threw me off a little bit. But it's one of my favorites, now.

Shut up.Close your eyes.And listen.This album breezed into my top 5 favorite albums of all time. And I'm definately not one to loosley throw that arround. I have been referred to as a musical nazi before, because I only like the best stuff out th...ere and think that everything else should be tortured and expirimented on. I must warn you...enter into the realm of this album with no expectations. Pretend you don't even know who Maynard James Keenan is and just listen to it as though it were a beautiful painting that you can so readily get lost in. If you want to go on a glorious journey through your own thoughts, buy this album and just listen. Read more Less

I love this band it is so calming and catches my soul with his awesome voice and lyrics!!! I think it would be cool if I was able to meet them or see a concert some time.

I thought it was nearly impossible to live up to the incredible accomplishment of Mer De Noms, truly one of the best albums to be released in the 90's period. At first i didnt care for "Weak and Powerless", but i have the utmost faith ...in Maynard that anything he creates musically or gets involved with will turn out wonderfully. So i trusted him and I am very impressed. One breathtaking song after another. 3 Libras..APC's best song it may be, but The Thirteenth Step still holds its place on one of my favorite albums.
