"Male ingénue" Theodore Newton was signed to a Warner Bros. contract in 1933, whereupon he spent the next year or so playing nominal romantic leads in films like the ">The Sphinx (1933), which remains his most memorable film performance. After playing a handful of secondary roles for RKO, he left Hollywood in 1935 to concentrate on stage work.
