Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry stars in this Oprah Winfrey-produced screen adaptation of the Zora Neale Hurston novel THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD. A staple of many school's curriculums, the book follows Janie Crawford, a beautiful African-American woman living in the 1920s, as she navigates her way through life and love in small-town America. Confronting societal ideas of how a woman (and even more, a black woman) should act, Janie (Berry) looks for fulfillment in the arms of a younger man following two disappointing marriages. While some viewers have criticized the film for leaving out some themes and details from the book, Oprah's screen adaptation definitely has some things to offer. Stunning cinematography, a star performance by Berry as the free-spirited Janie, and an undeniable chemistry between Berry and Michael Ealy (who plays Tea Cake) make this love story enjoyable for those familiar with or new to the story it is based on.

    Pros: Great actress and actors

    Cons: this movie should be seen more.

    This is so good that i wanted to watch it again and again. I went to all the stores in Greenville to find this movie, and the book, because the book is good to. I just think that Halle Berry was fantastic and i loved it. Well she is my favorite actre...ss anyway, but this is a must see. Really, but i just really suggest everyone watch it. Read more Less

    Pros: Good actors, Good story

    Cons: It should have been a ongoing television series.

    This movie was excellent!! I enjoyed the movie immensly. I would like to see more movies like this one. Halle Berry is a great actress. We have a lot of actresses on screen that are attractive with no acting skills, I would list them but se know who ...they are and it's a sad thing! Ms. Berry hang in there! Read more Less
