The movie is very good. But, where do all these ignorant people that post messages get their education. Can anyone spell anymore? Bunch of uneducated gringos.
X-Files is great, the movie is even better.
I give it a 10 scores.
Twilight Zone's Next Century
Has new stories about Space Aliens, Witches and More
Yous have got to read this book.I give a beyond 10 scores. Sorry X-Files
Its in www.serling.com
Generally speaking, I don't go watch movies in the theaters. A movie really has to pique my interest to get me to go pay 12 dollars to see maybe one and a half hours of film, but this one had me waiting in line.
It's very good. I was a fan of the series when it first started, and quit watching it in university, but the movie made me want to go back and see it all again. The characters virtually oozed emotion and pathos, the scenes and sets were incredible, and the scope of conspiracy was just great. I had to buy the film on Laser when it came out, and recently upgraded to DVD.
You won't waste your money if you buy this one.
being that i'm a big X-Files fan. i was a wee bit dissappointed in Chris Carter's big screen version of the X. it gave me more questions than answers. but at least one of my questions was answered, about Samantha Mulder's mystery. othewise, i was psyched to see my favorite agents on the big screen. it well put together and a good film at that. excellent action and mystery. the bombing of the federal building was erriely reminiscient to Oklahoma City. and (GASP) mulder cussed!!:) an excellent X!
This movie played like a cross between a second rate mytharc episode and ALIEN.
Considering the script wasn't even completed when shooting commenced, its no wonder.
This movie is an example of what greed does.
Fox and The X-Files Producers apparently thought the fans of the show would buy anything they half heartedly spewed forth and apparently they were right. The movie did make $180 Million but at a cost of $60 million to make, it wasn't a mega hit.
A weak script coupled with some smarmy Mulder & Scully dialogue doesn't make for an intelligent movie. And the Dallas explosion looked like the special effects people copied
it from the Oklahoma bombing, which I consider
offensive.
Avoid this drekfast at all costs, and purchase the DVD Collections of the early seasons back when the writers knew how to write a truly innovative show.
The X-Files movie was a masterpiece. I am a recent fan of the show and decided to rent the video. It was spectacular! I went out and bought it after watching it twice over a weekend, and I'm not one to part with my hard-earned cash over a movie. Even if there never was an X-Files series, this would be a great movie on its own. I am not a hardcore X-Files fan, but I loved it! If you are a huge fan, it just makes the whole movie that much better. Whether or not you like the series, get the movie!
OK, you may like or dislike the movie. I'm a huge X-Files fan and I loved it. It's a dark, complicated story, yet understandable for people who don't watch the TV show, and it follows the line of the episodes.
There are some great shots and sets in this movie, Martin Landau doing a great piece, the usual villains showing a side that makes their characters more believable and human, some of the usual supporting cast (including the Lone Gunmen) and it has great action sequences.
The DVD has a lot of cool features, the best being IMHO the commentary by Chris Carter, who remains humble and candid about making his first cinema feature, and who tells a lot of interesting stories about the making of the movie.
I am a huge X-files fan and was VERY disappointed with the movie. Too many cliches and the plot evolves miserably. The ending stinks and the supporting characters from the TV show are not used properly. The movie should have went with a plot outside the show, like a special unknown X-files case. Thumbs DOWN.
I love this series and it will be greatly missed once it ends. I loved the movie because it fell right in with the series and I thought that was alsome. Can't wait until the series premere Nov 5 2000 9:00 on Fox
i thought the movie was great but i think the
next one should stick more to the main outline of the
x - files.
for example skinner died in the movie
but is alive in the sires.
and it was erased from
the x - files sires.
maybe next time do one about
mulders sister and his fight for the truth. and have it
contributed in the sires!!
Fans of the series should love this. It has
everything the series has but is bigger, bolder and .. well
.. you get the picture. I love the X-Files and this
movie, while it didn't soar to the heights it claimed it
would (you don't really find out anything more than you
do watching the series), is more than worth
watching. Agents Mulder and Scully once again find
themselves facing familiar foes (Cigarette Smoking Man etc)
but this is done with such a slick style that it
doesn't really matter that we've basically seen this all
before. The X-Files has always been essential viewing and
this movie does nothing to change that. The set pieces
are handled well and Anderson and Duchovny translate
perfectly to a film setting (and the film even allows their
supressed passions come to a boiling point).
All in all,
a spot on slice of entertainment.
The movie was great - characters (same old, same old) plot, special fx - but I guess it just told too much. The show was really boring afterwards, and everything just went down-hill. The truth was no longer out there, and, well, ignorance is bliss!!
Even though I saw this movie three times,it was sort of a let down.I expected more since we get so much in so little time when it airs on TV.Gillian Anderson was excellent in this movie.I hope The Next X-Files movie in 2001 is WAY better. The all time favorite to me is "Aliens"...how many years and still know one can touch it........yet.
The X-Files movie isn't as dark as a lot of the
episodes in the TV series, but it's still a good film
never the less. Two FBI agents named Mulder and Scully
set out to find the truth about the alien conspiercy.
With so many trecerous characters like smoking man and
Kurtswhile the movie is a knockout.
The only saving grace for me when I saw this film
was that it was on opening night and I was with a
group of friends.
Everyone in the theater was
yelling at the screen and making comments. Reminded my of
being in college.
I expected a lot more from
the film. The "aliens" were *very*
disappointing...the story line didn't seem to connect all that much
with what we've been watching for the last 6 seasons.
