Pros: Glimpse of Cinema History
Cons: No sign of Baum anywhere
The fact that there is a girl in Kansan named Dorothy and a country called Oz are about the ONLT two things that link this 1925 silent film to Baum's 1900 story.
Known mainly because Oliver Hardy plays a farmhand and dresses up in a "Tin Man" costume VERY briefly.
Written, directed and starring Larry Semon, as another farmhand who happens to dress up like a scarecrow for a while, and starring his reallife wife , Dorothy Dwan, as the heroine "Dorothy", rightful heir to the throne of Oz.
Slapstick and racist humor abound, so keep in mind when this was made.
Watch strictly for historical purposes. ...
