I think this movie is excellent. It's not like any of the other horror films out now. It scared me half to death as a kid, and I still get scared every time I watch it!!

    PLEASE LISTEN TO ME

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 6, 2001

When I was 8 years old, I saw "The Watcher in the Woods" for the first time over a neighbor's house. I peed my pants. Since my neighbor thought this was funny, and I convinced myself that I was just being a wuss, we repeatedly watched the movie for y...ears, attempting to get over my fear of this movie. Unfortunately, I am 15 years old, and no, I still haven't gotten over my fear of this movie. Even a few months ago, a friend of mine laughed at this story of mine and suggested that we have a sleepover and watch the movie. I agreed thinking "Come on! It's a DISNEY movie!" It didn't help. TO THIS DAY, I see the main characters in my closet. I am not nuts. Throughout the movie, "Karen" is always seen in a whitish dress with a white blindfold, while her mother (Betty Davis) is always seen in black, mourning from her daughter's disappearance years back. Well when I go to bed in my dark room, and my closet door is open, all of my outfits appear as either black or white, so I convince myself they are in my closet! In watching this movie, you will notice that Karen will constantly appear in mirrors, being the whole basis of the storyline. When I close my eyes, I can still see Karen asking me to help her in the mirrors, since she incessantly begs off "Jan" to help her. Whenever I so much as think about this movie, it upsets me. The little sister, the main girl, Karen, the mom, EVERY CHARACTER is horrifying in their own way. Even to look at the cover of the movie just FREAKS ME OUT. Please, seriously, understand me, I know I sound like I'm nuts, I mean, it's a Disney movie and all. I guess because I saw this movie at such a young age, I haven't been able to get over my fear. Please, I promise you, if you are looking for a good horror movie to kind of break your child into the horror genre of movies, this is not the movie to do it with. If I could go back in time to when I was 8 years old over my neighbor's house, I would have never watched this movie. Nor would I if I were 9, 10, 11, or 53. Read more Less
