    Warriors...Come out to playyyyyy.....

Best Gang flick ever. The Turnbull ACs were live. Baseball Furies were baaaad. Best line, when they finally make it back to that dump Coney Island, and Swan says, "We fought all night to get back to THIS?". Great violence and story.

    Classic gang movie!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 23, 2002 | 2 out of 3 found this The Warriors (1979) review helpful

Set in the 70's, a gang running to the safety of their home turf when accused of a murder they didn't commit. Every gang in the city is out to get them. This movie shows how in the 70's, the gang's morale value and honor in their neiborhoods and resp...ect for others. When forced to fight, fight with their fists first using guns was discouraged. Not like today's urban gangs where they have to use a gun to kill everybody in or around a person or area.. in other words like cowards. Read more Less

    Why mess with success?

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 1, 2006

Pros: DVD9, cleaned up print, great movie!

Cons: Yet another director remix, may be too hokey for some.

Just so everyone knows, this is the controversial 'Ultimate Edition' with redone screen wipes --- if you go over to Amazon and read the reviews there you'll understand. So yes, Walter Hill comes on and basically apologizes for remixing h...is 'vision' and then you have these comic book type rotoscope transitions in the movie. While they don't kill the pacing of the movie -I- remember, it's not for everyone and does change the tone of a great movie that didn't need this. That being said, Hill didn't overdo it [no cgi or halo explosions here!], and the restoration of the print is GREAT. Also for the extras, they did a good job of dividing up the documentaries into 15 minute parts that really flow and give this disc its due. If you're thinking of adding 'The Warriors' to your collection, -do rent- this first to see what you're getting. While I'd rather see a 2-disc version of this movie [original, remix, more documentaries and STILLS] for a one disc treatment this is pretty good. -1 star for the 'director's apology' and the funky comic spoonfeeding. C'mon Hill, your fans are smarter than this. Read more Less

Simply fantastic! From the storyline to the actions to the experience of watching it.The warriors is a rare movie where it is fictitious but life-related and though it's gangster the moral out of it is educational and refreshing.Well done to the... producer and those involve in making this show.Definitely rates along the best movies i'll see in my lifetime. Classic street movie

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 29, 2002

Gritty Urban decay, abandoned youths fending in a all to real adult real world. The movie holds true to the raw spirit of the streets in the 70's. Reflecting on my own youth I can look at this movie and identify with the characters and local and say ...that's how it felt like. A mix of minorities and ethnic groups almost like family protecting turf and holding to a code while always taking care of your own. Each gang had their leader and like a brother he would watch out for you and keep you tough. Watching this movie brings that back and my admiriation for friends long forgotten. All thats far behind me now and I have a great job and good life but I often wonder what happened to the old gangs, more so when I watch the Warriors. Read more Less

    Warriors rumble into legend

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 24, 2002

I first saw this film on HBO in 1981, and it really struck a nerve. One of those films you don't forget, it balances gritty realism with hollywood overblown kitsch. It succeeds.

5 I can dig it stars

I first saw the film when I was 16 and being in a gang myself at the time thought it was the coolist film id ever seen. Watching it again four years on it still is the coolist film. A little camp perhaps but hey that was the garms to be seen in back ...in the day. Read more Less
