    Geraldine Page won a well deserved Best Actress Oscar for her lead role in Horton Foote's outstanding story of a high spirited elderly woman who is bound and determined to make it back to her hometown, Bountiful, Texas, before she dies. Although she... has many obstacles to overcome, especially dodging her crabby daughter-in-law, Carrie Watts (Page) finally does make it back--via bus from Houston, to the remains of her girlhood home smack dab in the tranquil woods in the middle of no-place, and we experience the overwhelming joy and happiness of doing so right along with her. Page turns in one of the most masterful performances ever given by any actress in any film. Period. Read more Less
