You will not find a better martial arts film outside of Hong Kong. Jason Statham doesnt require any strings to help him deliver kicks that are out of this world. All those ex-world champions in the movie business could learn a lot from studying this film. It is breathtaking. Its other virtues are a dry sense of humour, beautiful scenery, diverse musical colour and some magnificent single-take action sequences.

Her kicks serious ass and is very believable as a new star!! The plot and co stars are pretty bad but he still gets you to the finish all by himself!! worth the watch if you like a great action film!!

Movie turned out to be very entertaining, too bad Shu Qi didnt get to show more like her other movies. A Chinese/Hong Kong star that has done many movies overseas including Jackie Chans Gorgeous, take a look if you get a chance to see some of her movies. Anyway Jason did a great job, kinda like a upstarting young Steven Seagal. Good fighting scenes and action makes this movie fun.

The guy is a great actor. If you think he did a good job check out Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch (both Guy Ritchie flicks)

I will admit the plot line was not the greatest. But If you like action and nothing more than this is the movie for you. On top of the fact the Jason just kicks butt, he also show us how wonderfully buff he is. Jason is a great actor and is evolving with every movie that he does. This is a must see movie. Advice for all the women out there, when watching this movie make sure your man is nowhere to be found so that you can enjoy every moment.

this movie was flat out horrible. I'd rather watch some guy get a plumpkin then to sit through this nonsense again. The people who put out this nonsense deserve a face bath and dats da troof. also, Steve and Mike Adams are the banger brothers and Johnny rock

I saw a lot of potential in this film, and while I do believe that aspects of it were slickly put together, most notably the plethora of action sequences, on the whole it was an anti climax.
It may seem strange to cite the action sequences for their stylish acrobatics and then criticise the picture in its entirity when this movie never professed to be anything other than a action film, however I felt it was let down on a number of points, made all the more regrettable for the ease with which these could have been avoided. Indeed the attention evidently lavished on the faultless choreography served only to highlight the otherwise lamentable degeneration into cliche of a film with an excellent director and very promising lead.
For example: at the beginning we are introduced to a stern and enigmatic man whose adherence to The Code borders on dogmatism, and yet for little explained reason within the the next twenty minutes he abandons this highly professional stance and investigates the package, to reveal...surprise surprise...a beautiful, vulnerable girl who progresses into a complete idiot very soon. Anyone could have seen this coming, what I didnt expect was the immediate gooey music and locked eyes, I expected more from Besson, especially in light of Leons dark and intelligent suspense.
Secondly it also disappeared into comedy land with the preposterous explosions and the cheesey eighties Chuck Norris escapades where every henchman is schooled to perfection in matrix style kung fu: I cant understand why this was thought desirable.
While escapism is sought from an action film and consequently pedantic attention to realism rendered undesirable, I felt a film with such a believable action man at its centre( Statham is muscular but lithe, I believed him as an ex spec ops super soldier unlike fellow baldie, the sluggish potato head Vin Diesel)could have made more of an effort to avoid embarrassingly cartoonish pitfalls. ALSO NO MAN CAN DEFEAT THIRTY UNARMED ON A BUS.
Overall, I found this film a disappointment, but wouldnt have written a review had I not seen the perhaps over enthusiastic lauding exhibited elsewhere. This is not a film to gush over.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoTHE TRANSPORTER (2002)
WHEN I SAW J.S. IN 'SNATCH', I THOUGHT HE WAS COOLEST CHARACTER IN THE MOVIE, AND THEY WERE ALL SWEET! BUT WHEN I SAW 'THE TRANSPORTER'!!! THAT WAS ONE OF THE COOLEST FLIX EVER EXECUTED TO THE SCREEN! J.S IS SO PERFECTLY UNASSUMING AS THE (HERO?) LEAD, HE MADE ME ALMOST STAND UP IN ANTICIPATION OF WHAT HIS LATENT SKILLS COULD DO NEXT! I'M SURE LIKE OTHERS WHO CAN APPRECIATE REAL AND STYLISH ACTION FLIX, I WOULD HOPE THIS MOVIE WOULD BE EASILY AVAILABLE, BUT LIKE A VINTAGE LOW ISSUE COMIC, THIS MOVIE WILL BE TREASURED EVEN MORE ONCE IT'S IN YOUR POSSESSION! THX TRANSPORTER!

I went to see this amazing movie on Saturday, the day after it came out. As usual with the movies I like no one was in the theatre but me and a few others. This was a hi-energy ride the whole way, some of those seens would have made Jackie Chan proud. This is a MUST OWN on DVD.
