Pros: there arent any
Cons: too many to list
I recently watched the new version of this movie so i thought i would go back and watch the original, I was so disapointed, i dont know how many times i wanted to turn it off, but i always try to watch movies all the way through. i guess i am just used to things as they are now, maybe back in the 70s it was good, but to me it just wasnt my thing
Pros: Has a "real" scary feeling to it
Cons: little more gore would of been nice, but not needed
This movie is definetly on my top 5 all time best horror movies list. From start to finish this movie captures a real feeling to it,so when you finally see Leatherface it's terrifying.
Pros: Loved it and still do!
Cons: None
I remember when this movie first came out and I have seen it 100 of times over the years and still enjoy it. None of the sequals or remakes compare to the original! Gotta run I hear chainsaws hehehehe
Pros: LEATHA
Cons: DADDY
IT KOO BUT I WAN DA DVDD.
Pros: sucks
Cons: sucks
I find this movie realy sucks and so does the remake. I would love to see jason vs leatherface in the future my moneys on Jason beting leatherface. To tell the truth all tcm movies suck even the remakes. But I got to say one thing if there was no leatherface there would be no Jason. Its just that leatherface sucks hes has hardly any kills his family does all of leatherface dirty work to sum it up leatherface sucks.
Pros: A
Cons: A
I watched the uncut version but don't really see why this movie had to be cut in the first place. Don't expect blood and guts and really graphic scenes in this, but what is scary about this is that it is based on a true story. The remake is not far from the original but gives a bit more scare, in particular the extra footage involving the two police officers investigating the case.
Pros: all
Cons: ?
Very cool movie indeed
Pros: Scary as hell!
Cons: None
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is definitely one of the scariest movies of all time (in my opinion, Exorcist is the scariest, then TCM). It is ahead of it's time... the documentary-style way that the movie was filmed, the characters who you could swear are real, & the fact that it wasn't overly gory are just some of the things that make this movie so frightening.
You have to see it for yourself. Even if you're not a "horror fan", this is one you can't miss!
Pros: I like it
Cons: None
The best horror movie along with Jaws, Friday The 13th, and countless others. Long live Leatherface.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is based on a true story and is one of the scariest movies ever. It's a lot better than House of a 1000 Corpses.Rent or Buy this movie for your family on Halloween night. You'll be Spooked for Day's.
To this day, many people seem to be under the impression that this film is based on a true story. Not! However, it IS loosely based on the all too real story of Wisconsin Serial Killer Ed Gein. Eddy Boy also inspired such classics as "Psycho" and "The Silence of the Lambs". Tobe Hooper REALLY knows what to show and what not to show. This stuff FEELS like it's really happening on the screen right before our very eyes! And Leatherface could give Jeffrey Dahmer nightmares! Hooper thrusts his group of teenagers on the hot, sticky, dirty backroads of Texas and then unleashes one sick F*** after the next on them. Finally, one girl--natch--remains, and she is invited to a truly messed up brunch, featuring the kookiest family since the Munsters. Leatherface has even powdered his nose for the occasion. After they have hauled the nearly corpse-like Grampaw out of the attic, and let him have a go at the hysterical girl, she summons all her strength and escapes from these lunatics! Leatherface fires up the chainsaw, and the chase begins! This is one unnerving film from the firt gruesome frame to the last, and it makes all the others from its generation look like simplistic drivel. I think it is THE most horrifying film that has EVER been made.
texas chainsaw massacre is the tightest horror movie ever.what i really like about it is the
A group of young people run into a family of pan-handle Texans that prefer to have their guests barbequed. Classic horror based on a true story. Be careful where you stop to have a bite.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre posesses what so many of the more recent horror films don't: Character. There is nothing cutesy or magical about the happenings in this film. Rather, Tobe Hooper takes us through a tour of total hell.
What I like most about the film is the unnerving way it plays with the victims heads. Throughout the film, the victims, as well as the audience, are given false hope as to the situation at hand; maybe its a dream or maybe an escape is possible. For example, in one of the movie's best scenes, Sally (Marilyn Burns) has just outrun Leatherface (Gunnar Hanson) and has found her way into the previously visited gas station. The owner, played by Sim Siedow, assures Sally that no one is now outside and that he will drive her to safety. If only it were that easy. The owner is part of the Leaterface family. He succeeds in tying Sally up and driving her to the "family" home.
Then it's on to the dinner scene. Sally is tied to a chair and invited to eat with the family, which now includes a hideous, barely alive "grandpa." Sally eventually passes out and as she reawakens, a smile crosses her face. It's a dream! It has to be. And then, the light hits a chicken head on the table. It's real!! The scream scene that follows is one of the best in movie history.
Horror films of today, Such as "Scream," or "I know what you did last summer," are nothing more than teenage laugh-fests with a few shots of gore. But do these types of movies frighten? No! The Texas Chainsaw Massacre will frighten you, guaranteed.
This is a classic in the world of low-budget horror and very claustrophobic and tense, but not very gory (see TCM2) as some might say. I loved the acting by Gunnar Hansen (the original and best Leatherface in the series), Jim Siedow (his old man kept me cracking up with lines like "I told you to stay away from that graveyard!" and "Look what your brother did to the door!"), and Edwin Neal (his hitchhiker is very disturbing). Timeless!
This movie is not as scary as some say, it did have it's moments though. it is not as gory as people say to, but still a great horror movie.
It was probably the greatest horror movie of all time. It was actually scary. Great acting and it had somewhat of a plot. There was a surprise every second and the ending was amazing. If you are going to watch one horror movie in your entire life, it has to be this one.
It always kept me watching. Extremely scary, a bone chiller, and i'd definatly rent it again.
Gruesome horror!!!!!!

Oh my gosh this is the most scariest movie ever don't listen to the bad reviews the probably don't like horror
This incredebly disturbing tale is one of the scariest films of ALL TIME!!!
The character's acting is PURE EVIL
One of the best horror movies ever made. Why is it that low budget is so often the best?(think Halloween, Evil Dead and even Blair Witch Project) The story of this films construction is worthing checking out for film buffs. Their budget was so constrained that they filmed for days and nights on end without breaks. One of the later scenes where the girl is trapped inside the farmhouse with the crazed chainsaw family seems so realistic in its depiction of mania and hysteria. This is because the emotions are real. the entire cast and crew were basicly out of their heads from lack of sleep when filming these scenes and it adds dramaticly to the gritty realism of the scene. Completely overblow reactions has come from society to this film over the years, hyping it as some sort of evil gorefest. Considering the subject matter the film is infact surprisingly restrained in the depiction of actual physical gore. While it does have its violent moments, it is more the tone that will disturb as it tries to not sensationlize the subject matter any further, rather to try as much as possible to make it appear realistic without being overly excessive. This is its power, and a large part of what makes it so effective as a horror movie. Tobe Hooper as far as I know has never done a better movie than this, Poltergeist the only one that comes close. Gunnar Hansen seems to be the only cast member to recieve any fame from the film, albeit years later as the notorious Leatherface. Bad sequals with little imagination and bigger budgets than the original followed. This is the classic, own it, embrace it, find out how the little bugger was made. Fascinating for anyone whos ever has or wanted to make their own little horror movie.
