Pros: very addictive
Cons: very addictive
I wish I had 3 thumbs because 2 thumbs up is not enough to give this movie. I never knew too much or even paid that much attention to the group until I saw the mini-series. This movie is very addictive. The 1st time I saw it was November 2004. It is now July 2005. I am not exaggerating when I say that I've watched it over 100 times. The actors, from Leon to Terron Brooks actually puts you in the movie as if you were right there with them, experiencing the same things they did. Sometimes I have to remember that I don't know them. Since I've looked at this as much as I have, I can recite any scene, tell you who was in the scene, who said what and talk about stuff that most people would say, "Wow, I didn't notice that when I watched it"
This is a must-see movie. It stirs all your emotions. The characters make you angry-David's rebelliousness and cockiness, they make you happy-the success they had, Eddie's love and gentleness. They make you sad-Paul's situation and Eddie's face when he was singing after Paul got sick, you could see the pain in his eyes, you could tell that he wasn't happy like he was when Paul was there. They make you feel sorry-David being kicked out the group and wanting so badly to be back in and you wishing they'd give him one more chance. They make you irritated-Otis, why he thought he was in charge and that no one could function with out him and why everything had to have his approval. Any emotion that you can imagine, you will feel when you watch the movie.
When you hear the songs, you can't help do anything but sing along. The scenes with the songs make you rewind (if you have a VHS) to the beginning again and again and select the same scene over and over (if you have a DVD)
This is a 4 hour movie, but when I sit down to watch "The Temptations" it takes me about 6 hours because there are so many parts that I love that I have to look at them more than once before I go on to the next part.
The reason I gave the pro's "addictive" and the con's "addictive is because you will want to watch it so much and you learn the parts that you get on other people's nerves talking about it. You just want everyone to know and love it as much as you do.
If you haven't seen "The Temptations" you have to!!Remember-I gave it 3 THUMBS UP!!!!
My son and I watch this movie everyday. My son Knows all the songs and all the moves that they do. This is when I noticed Charles and man I thought that he was fine. In over all I thought that the movie is excellent.
All in all i thought it was a great movie, i saw both versions of this movie on dvd and vhs and i admit i didnt know that they had financial problems as bad as the movie suggested but still i enjoyed the performance of all the actors and i always love their music and i hope otis and the next temptations stay as successful as the original members of the group.
Great movie. Made me fall in love with the Temps especially David Ruffin. Love him or hate him - he gave the Temps personality. Leon is outstanding in this movie.
This film shows everything about the Temptations. All of the 5 tragic lives of Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, David Ruffin, Paul Williams
and Eddie Kendricks.
I loved this movie. I have the DVD at home. I especially loved the actor Christian Payton. I hope to meet him one day.
I recommend that everyone who enjoy black history sees this movie
No one can sing as sweet as Eddie Kendricks.
There has been no dancer past or present that can twork it like Paul Williams. His dance steps were the best. Melvin is the best bass singer I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Al Bryant's voice was on point as well. The movie was so right in saying there is only one David Ruffin, he was bad and Dennis Edwards was no kind of competition for him.(dennis was good, but he ain't no David Ruffin) Otis Williams had mad vocals and should of had more leads. Big Ups to all the Temptations and the VERY TALENTED actors who portrayed them.
This is the best movie that I've ever seen in my life. If you don't like this one, you must be Half Dead. I saw this movie three years ago and I'm still hooked. The cast can not only act, but sing and dance too (they actually sang some of the songs). "THIS IS A MUST SEE CLASSIC THAT EVERYONE SHOULD OWN"!
The outcome of this movie is great. The acting was great. Although at times it was hard to understand. The beginning is good, and gradually builds to the climate of the movie. The music is great and fun to sing along. I enjoyed this movie and would buy it for anyone as a gift.
I thought the movie was enjoyable because the story behind the rise and fall of the temptations is very interesting. The acting was ok but the character development was poor, more so in the beginning. Although it's definitely worth watching, the script could have been better.
THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE THAT I HAVE SEEN IN A LONG TIME..I WATCH IT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK, MY TWO YEAR OLD EVEN LOVES THIS MOVIE...
If it's possible buy the original which is on two video tapes. The one they sale with only one tape there are parts cut out of it.
