Excellent Movie!

This movie was so beautifully made and the plot was mazingly scary. Slash and kill movies are never scary, but this movie seemed so real, and so possible that it was very frightening. Surprisingly enough, I felt for Ripley and really wanted him to ge...t out of it, but I knew that he should be caught. It was odd how they made you feel about his charector. The only part where I actually felt bad for the victim was in Peter's case, but again, I know what Tom was doing was wrong, but it just made me feel that way. Great movie! Read more Less

Great cast, direction and twists in plot

Minghella brings a cinematic masterpiece to life. His beautiful cast and good writing make this a must-see film. Any true film watcher will appreciate the beautiful cinematography, the great symbolism (water, the drowning mary, mirrors, the piano, th...e glasses), unforgettable scenes (the chess game, the ending) and of course the amorality of it all - you don't know how to feel at the end, except puzzled and leaving you wanting to watch another epic adventure of the talented, mysterious Mr. Ripley. This movie is so gay, the movie itself is okay a little slow,but the fact that matt plays a homo really was upsetting from the trailer i thought the story was going to be about the going after the girl not the guy wanting to butt slam the other guy

The story is very intricate, the scenery is beautiful, but the film itself drags on and on. Damon, Law, and Paltrow all give great performances, to this twisted movie. While the director Minghella tries to give a stab at suspense, it falls miserabl...y into the category of boring and drawn out. the film is too long that make people feel bore. but don't miss the first hour. Jude law played very good as dickie that makes the first hour of the movie wroth watching. The other two hours, you can just push the fast forward button until it ends.

The Message of this movie: Don't trust people, they'll only hurt you. While this is a well done movie, with beautiful cinematography, and an incredible cast, it cannot overcome one basic problem. Ther is not one likeable character to get behind in t...he entire bloomingmovie.
