    My favorite Russell Crowe movie!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Mar 9, 2002

Perhaps the love scene is too hard for those women who fantasize about RC, but this is such a cute, fun, enjoyable, thought-provoking movie that a friend and I watched it 3x in one day. If you haven't seen it...you should.

This movie was very funny. Some lines in the movie were hilarious. Jack Thompson and Russell Crowe are dynamite in their roles. To give you all a preview here is one is golden:
    1) Jeff: What is wrong with my accent?
Greg: I like his accent, Its romantic, It really turns me on.
I recommend that you watch this movie. It is well worth watching at least once.

    3 words FAB-U-LOUS

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 23, 2000

This is one of the best movies I have seen. Russell Crowe, showing that he is not homophobic definitely gets many messages across. During the movie, he show's his love and dedication to his father. His father show's his unconditional love for his son. Isn't this what being a father/son is all about.

I wish that all families of a gay son or daughter could/would see this movie. This movies is a funny look at what we all want our families to be. It is also a movie about love, and who does not want this.

    Russell does it again

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 29, 2000

Why Russell Crowe doesn't have a string of Oscars? I don't know. "The Sum Of Us" shows the viewer that gay people are human just like anyone else. And Russell proves to gay critics that straight people can play those types of roles too. He plays the role of "Jeff Mtichell" so charming, I almost wish I were a gay male. Jack Thompson was incredible too. The chemistry between the two was so genuine, it brought acting to new heights. After a while, it didn't seem like you were looking at a movie but into the lives of real people.

Special kudos go out to the director and the screenplay writer for their excellent efforts.

A MUST SEE for intellectual movie-goers, and one I'm definitely adding to my movie collection.

    A very special movie

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 28, 2000

Those worried about watching a movie about "gay" issues and relationships, need not worry here. The core of this movie is about the wonderful relationship between a young man and his father. It is truly a unique one that could be used as a model in real life. The total acceptance by the father of his son's lifestyle is shown to the extreme, but it is refreshing to see a parent so devoted to his child; and the son's dedication to his father, even when faced with serious illness, is a beautiful thing. Russell Crowe does an amazing job both portraying a man looking for love and "someone to cuddle with" as well as a son coming to grips with his father's devastating illness. Look beyond the rather silly synopsis on the box and find the heart inside this movie.

    Amazing, a real tear-jerker

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 30, 1999 | 1 out of 1 found this The Sum of Us (1995) review helpful

This movie is great! Fantastic performances by Russell Crowe in this touching story about a gay man in Australia and his rather too supportive father. The dialects can be hard to understand some times and the editing is a little rough, but this movie shows just how great Crowe's range is. A MUST for any Russell Crowe fan!
