    A true classic!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 18, 2003

It was no fluke this movie won so many oscars. We just rented this movie again after so many years and it still is incredible. Great story, acting, comedy, suspense, direction. Newman and Redford.. One of the top ten of all time. Smaller children will not be able to follow the plot and if your girlfriend or boyfriend can't follow this, dump them quick!

My #1 favorite film of all time, hands d

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 27, 2002

Everything came together perfectly in this film - the cast, the sets, the story, the music and of course, ..... the sting! Since it's release, other films have come close, but none have surpassed the mastery of The Sting.

    A Great Film

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 25, 2002

A wonderful film that entertains from start to finish. Still hold up great after almost 30 years. George Roy Hill reteams with Paul Newman and Robert Redford from "Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid". This film has all that "Buth Cassidy" lacked and more. Newman and Redford are great playing Chicago area conmen in the depression area of the 1930's. Robert Shaw makes a great villan. See this film from the beginning for you fullest enjoyment!

masterly show, and a reminder what a memorable score will do to an already excellent film.

They should make Buddy films this good

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Apr 26, 2000 | 1 out of 1 found this The Sting (1973) review helpful

Unlike the disappointing Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, this film was actually a worthy vehicle for two mega-stars. The script is so tight and sharp, you can cut your finger on it. So many classic film elements make The Sting a winner...the washed-up old pro and the hungry-for-blood hotshot teaming up to set the stage for an underdog victory. Excellent.

Great DVD quality-but no surround sound

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 11, 1999

The terrific smash hit "Sting," heralded as one of the most favored films in history comes home on DVD! The picture quality is superb and the convenience of DVD adds to the enjoyment of being able to play scenes like the famed "train car poker game" over and over again at will. -deffinately a plus. The only negative aspect about this movie is that the audio was never re-encoded, so 2 Channel Digital Mono is the best you can hear from this one. Hopefully a "collectors edition" or director's cut will follow allowing for digital 5.1 stereo or DTS. Otherwise an excellent film! Plenty of entertainment that goes beyond one sitting.
