Pros: Crude animation is fun to watch, Good stories, interesting, fun, a little funny, you can watch it whenever you want without waiting for the reruns
Cons: Not as funny as new episodes, not enough Tracy Ullman Shorts,
I had just started watching the simpsons a few weeks before I bought this. I would laugh hysterically during the episodes. I became an instant fan. So I decided that I needed this DVD. I enjoyed watching them and watching how they started off. Smithers was black, Milhouse and chief Wiggum had black hair. The crude animation was fun to watch and it was fun to here Homer's original voice. There was only one problem. I wasn't laughing hysterically. The episodes were a little funny but not nearly as good as later seasons. But there was one good thing about that. The jokes didn't get old and the episodes were interesting each time you waatched them. The best one here is krusty Gets Busted. I have all three seasons and I am pleased with all of them but mostly season 3.

I loved it because these earlier shows don't potray homer as a brain dead monkey but as a non-itellectual human being who can make us laugh even with a brain.

I'm a big fan of the simpsons! Its one of the few TV shows that I can actually laugh at (even repeats). But as much as I love the simpsons, Season 1 is by far one of the worse seasons! Primarily because of the lack of character development, storylines & animation! But, I bought it anyways! This DVD Boxset is for the true Simpson fan!

This is an awesome DVD. Even if the quality of the episodes isn't as good as the future seasons, it is still fun to watch.
Homer doesn't act as stupid or sound the same, but he is still a funny character in these early episodes.

This is a wonderful and long related release to DVD. It takes you back to the days when the animation was a little bit choppy but the humor just as funny. Every episode is a classic. The audio commentary for every episode offers an interesting peek into the writers minds and the writing process. For a Simpsons fan, its fun to look at these early episodes and compare them to episodes today. The third DVD even has clips from the Tracey Ullman show days!

Love to see a good show. Especially the whole season. The only thing wrong is the fact that you can't play all the episodes at once. You have to go back to the main menu and start all over. The same problem exists on the MASH: Season One dvd's. Kinda sucks when you want to just turn it on and watch, not having to fool around with the remote every 25 minutes. Fox really needs to fix this. Now if they will only get around to putting "That 70's Show" on disc. Later!

I can't stop watching this, I am a true Simpsons fan. Yes the old episodes of the first season are a little poor in quality, but what do exspect for film that is 10 years old??

Any dedicated Simpsons fan, such as I, should be first in line to buy this DVD collection (and I really was!). The collection is great! I've been a Simpson fan ever since they first appeared in 1987. This is a great DVD collection. If you or anyone you know enjoy The Simpsons, this is a perfect addition to your DVD library.

I have been a Simpson fan ever since they came out and let me tell you I love this set it takes me back to my high school days, coming home from school and watching the Simpson. I am happy they came out with this set, now I can enjoy it all over again with my son. Way to go enjoy.

Ok guys,
I know what you are thinking. The first season wasn't that good, and geneally I agree with you, but it doesn't mean the episodes were not all that good. In this DVD you classic episodes like Bart goes to France(one of favorites you hardly see on TV these days), Krusty gets Busted, and not to mention the episode where The Simpson seek the aide of Dr. Marvin Monroe. If these episodes don't sound familiar to you, I would suggest that you at least rent the DVD. For all you simpson adicts who are debating buying the set, I think you will be set overall there are a few episode which are not all that great but overall it one of the funniest DVD's ever released.Was this review helpful? I love the Simpsons. This was a GREAT dvd for any fan. I especially liked listening to the commentary from Matt Groening and other writers/producers of the show. I would deffintley recommend this box set. I cat wait till season two comes out.
