Pros: Quality
Cons: Exposure
Overall, this was a great movie. The nudity was a surprise, but not a bad one. The overall quality of this movie was great, however the storyline could have been a little bit better. This was definitely a great addition to the Simpsons.
Pros: The movie brings out all of the characters from the tv series, with no substitutions on voices. Everyone that fans have grown up with on the show is also in this movie.
Cons: For all the hilarious jokes, there is still something missing from the movie. It feels a little bit like a 90-minute episode of the tv show, which will make it very easy to edit for tv.
Okay, everyone, sing along: Spiderpig, Spiderpig, does whatever a Spiderpig does. In case you've been living in a cave, and have no clue what that means, it's one of the year's most sung lines. It's from the long-awaited Simpsons Movie. That's right. Homer, Mrage, Bart, Lisa and Maggie finally hit the big screen earlier in the year. And while it was not a major hit, The Simpsons Movie was still an enjoyable experience.
Whether a person is a longtime fan, or a casual viewer, the major problem with this movie is that, much like the direct-to-dvd Family Guy movie, The Simpsons Movie feels like nothing but a 90-minute episode of the show itself. It doesn't really standout as a movie, which is something of a downside. Even the bonus features on the DVD do little to add to or detract from the overall movie experience. Even the "Slightly Alternate Ending" was just that. It was very slightly alternate.
That being said, fans of The Simpsons who had perhaps become jaded by America's first and favorite dysfunctional family will at laest slightly regain their faith in The Simpsons after seeing this movie. The laughs are nonstop all the way through, despite still feeling like an extended episode of the tv show.
There are even references to certain episodes from the show's past, including the infamous episode where Bart tried to jump Springfield gorge on a skateboard. Even the ambulance from the episode in question shows up in the scene in question. And true fans will notice that the same man who voiced the evil Hank Scorpio is back as the lead EPA agent in this story.
For all the laughs throughout this movie, there is still a certain something that is not the same. The movie is great. But there is simply something missing, albeit only a small something. Despite that lack (whatever it may be), this movie will easily bring back any old fans of the The Simpsons, and brings new hope for perhaps more seasons of this wonderful show to come.
Pros: extras are great
Cons: should be thrown in jail!
why did the creators wait so long?
Pros: Used the same voice actors
Cons: I really can't think of anything.
Most television series end with a movie, but It looks like this show is different and still going strong, what with new episodes still coming out even with the writers' strike! This movie if for true fans of the show! It feels like an extended episode, which I think is just fine with moct of us because when you think 'movie', you think something entirely different from 'television'. I personally loved it and recomend it anyone wanting to start watching the series.
