Guitarists/vocalists Walter Salas-Humara and Bob Rupe were active on the Florida music scene as members of the Vulgar Boatmen and the Bobs, respectively, but after moving to New York within several months of one another, they decided to form the Silos. The two added violinist Mary Rowell and used several session musicians to record the album About Her Steps, which they released and distributed themselves on their Record Collect label.
