Synopsis: The Promise (1979)

A young couple elopes over objections from the boy's mother. When a car crash leaves the new bride disfigured the mother offers to pay for plastic surgery if she leaves him forever. She does, but a new face is not enough to fool two hearts in love... Academy Award Nominations: Best Original Song ("I'll Never Say 'Goodbye'").

    I love this movie. The couples love story is so cool and very heartwarming. Good acting from Kathleen Quinlan and Beatrice Straight (theyre very beautiful actresses) and Stephen Collins (no wonder hes superb in 7th Heaven)....cant wait for it in a DV...D format as part of my collection...PLEASE ?     I haven't seen this movie in over twenty years. I've ordered it and I can't wait for it to arrive. It touched me in such a way that it has stayed with me over the years and remains in my top two favorite movies still. The love that these two people ...feel is something that we all seek.
