    Pros: Funny, imaginitive

    Cons: Terribly un-Holmesian

The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes was intriquing. It was terribly interesting, and horribly funny. However it lacked the true, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle influence. Impossible situations lessoned the quality. And most of the time the characters of Sher...lock Holmes, Watson, and Mycroft were terribly out of character. But if you're not a picky Sherlock Holmes fan, you should really enjoy this movie! Read more Less

I can't decide if I love or hate this movie. It bears no relationship whatsoever to any Sherlock Holmes story by Conan Doyle, and at times it veers into ridiculous territory (a Loch Ness monster head on a submarine manned by midgets!!!).Yet, for all... that, this is a strangely absorbing movie. One is almost reminded of the great Victorian novelists: open up one of their books and you are in another world. The movie could best be described as 'quirkey', yet strangely involving. Certainly worth a look. Read more Less
