    Don't get used to dissapointment

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 28, 2002 | 2 out of 2 found this The Princess Bride (1987) review helpful

This must be my favorite movie ever. There is a little bit of everything I like in a movie: Comedy, action, drama, romance, and the main man is a total babe. I have watched this movie about 30 times now and my best friend and I can have all of thecon...versations.("Incontheivab
le!" "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means") I tell you, it is so addicting after the first watching. Also, the whole family can enjoy this classic with only one curse and a handful of blood.Don't fret, it's fake. So in conclusion, just watch the movie!!

To dislike this movie would be "inconceivable"!From 5 to 105, you'll enjoy this no matter what type of movie you like. No sex, no violence, no foul language, just pure entertainment. You'll find yourself watching it over and over and knowing the lin...es by heart and still watching it.This is a classic! Read more Less

Pros: connectivity to any age group

    Cons: absolutely none...

This movie has been my absolute favorite since I ws a child. I think that any age group and any background can relate to it. I love the simplicity of the romanceand how they(butercup and westley) go through death defying acts to be with each other..... I definatly give this movie two thumbs up!!! Read more Less

This is a truly great movie! It has everything -- adventure, romance, swordfights, monsters, good guys, bad guys, and a wonderful ending. I've bought this movie 4 times -- every time I lend it out, I never get it back :-) Everyone seems to really ...love it! Read more Less

Love the film, love the book!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 24, 2006

Pros: Superb tale of true love conquering even death

Cons: The return to Columbo grandpa and Wonder Years grandson is a little irritating!

The entire screen play is based on the book by William Goldman, adapting a story by the apparently fictional Florinese author, S. Morgenstern. Goldman, so his story goes, was read extracts of the Morgenstern book as a child while suffering from a bou...t of pneumonia. This sets off a series of footnotes, chopping up the action of the story as it meanders through Florinese histories and the themes of love, betrayal, revenge, and a twisted humour that pervades the entire novel and screenplay as a result. This film asserts its position among the classics before you have read past the first chapter. Fortunately, the novel is excellent and deserves reading again and again. What works particularly well with the book is that more often than not, readers will have seen the film first, and will have associated the voices of Christopher Guest and Mandy Patinkin with the characters mentioned in the book. You can hear the lisp in your head as you read. The film is marred only by the irritating return to the grandfather seated at the side of the bed, and it is difficult to see past the Columbo exterior, particularly when the actor makes no attempt to change your preconceptions. However, when fantasy begins and the tale is played out, you will rarely find a better mix of swashbuckling adventure, hilarious capers, villainous plots and heart fluttering romance in all the films of recent years. And if all this is not enough, Rainer casts the swooningly good looking Cary Elwes as our hero Westley. I could stare into those eyes all day! Read more Less

    Classic fairytale movie!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  May 29, 2006

Pros: Everything is amazing in this movie! The idea is fantastic!

    Cons: nothing!

What an ingenious movie! The grandfather is telling a story to his ill and reluctant grandson who doesn't want to gear a book about romance. The story has everything in it from swah-buckling, adventure, romance, etc. Cary Elwes as Westley was gre...at casting! Just an amazing movie all around! Read more Less
