This video game version of The Polar Express is based on the 2004 holiday season feature film, which follows the story of Chris Van Allsburg's children's book. Players board the title train for a ride to the North Pole to meet Santa himself. Along the way, they'll hunt for lost presents, solve puzzles, play minigames, and meet characters like the Girl KnowItAll, the Lonely Boy, Smokey and Steamer, and Santa's elves. In addition to the train itself, platformstyle exploration and collecting challenges also await in the game's other main 3D "chapter" levels, such as the North Pole. The almost real look of the game's threedimensional characters and environments follows the style of the film, inspired by Van Allsburg's illustrations. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide

Pros: Beautifully illustrated with awesome graphics

Cons: No save feature. If you lose your hearts you go back to beginning of game.

I purchased this game for my Pre-schooler since he loved the movie so much. In my opinion, it is not a game a young child can play. Mom & Dad can't even get passed the elves in the food fight train car. It is frustrating to go back to the beginni...ng of the game (no save feature) once you lose your heart. We were thankful you can hit the "enter" key to surpass the storyline and move quickly back into the game, but we keep getting hung up in the food fight. My husband had 4 hearts during one game and still the elves kept coming back for more, we just could not move on from that car. How many times can you get hit in the face with cakes and not learn to stay down! Be prepared for long nights if you haven't played PC games in a while. The imagery, graphics and storyline are beautifully illustrated and our son loves seeing/hearing scenes from the movie on the computer.Hopefully, Mom & Dad will be able to get back into gaming and move on to chapter 2 for our very impatient son.
