Synopsis: The Pianist (2002)
Synopis: The film is adapted from the autobiography of Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Polish Jew who detailed his survival during World War II. A composer and a pianist, he played the last live music heard over Polish radio airwaves before Nazi artillery hit. During the brutal occupation, he eluded deportation and remained in the devastated Warsaw ghetto. There, he struggled to stay alive even when cast away from those he loved. He would eventually reclaim his artistic gifts and confront his fears, with aid from the unlikeliest of sources.Features: The Pianist (2002)

The Pianist
, March 30, 2003Reviewer: ~Kathy~ - See all ~Kathy~'s reviews5 of 5 Yahoo! Users found this Pianist review helpful The Pianist is a wonderful film. Roman Polanski did an amazing job with this film and he received a much deserved Oscar for best director this year. Adrian Brody beautifully portrayed the title character of the movie Wladyslaw Szpilman. And he also received his much deserved Oscar for best actor. This movie is not like other holocaust movies because it mainly focuses on one character and therefore is very character driven. It shows a struggle of one Polish jew in the Warsaw ghetto. The viewer feels as if he or she is experiencing the journey alongside the main character and that makes the film so much more personal. The style of the film is very unique and the photography and the depth of all the details is incredible. In the end all of the elements of great movie making and the fact this movie is based on a true story makes it a wonderful experience for the viewer. One caution would be that this movie is not for the faint of heart as it deals with a very disturbing and emotional subject matter. A true masterpiece and one of Roman Polanski's best movies up to date. Highly recommended. ... -
