Synopis: October 1991. It was "the perfect storm" — a tempest that may happen only once in a century — a nor'easter created by so rare a combination of factors that it could not possibly have been worse. The effects, YES, they are brilliant, but the human drama is so water logged its only emotion it can wring from you is one of hilarity. I clung to my lifeboat while my friends fell laughing all around me, I refused to buy into their cynicism until near the end when Mark Whalberg is delivering what appears to be a rendition of Jim Morrison's bad poetry to his girl while about to be destoyed by a tidal wave. A perfect storm dosnt make up for an abysmal screenplay. I was as disapointed as the captain of the Titanic. Blub blub blub... ... -

Users found this Perfect Storm review helpful The book is rather dry and non-engaging, but does explain things quite well: weather, the sea, sword fishing, etc. But the movie does a better job of engaging the viewer and bringing the characters to life.
