this movie wasnt what i has expected it was very boring at the end and i was expecting a little more at the end of the movie.i was hoping to see huge tidal waves it just wasnt what i thought it was going to be i wouldnt ever watch this movie again one time was enough for me.

I think one has to understand the love of the sea and about mans instincts to like this movie. I thought all the charecters were good. I loved the scenes of the large waves and how they showed the storm. Very good movie.

sea storm scenes cannot salvage this unhappy film. At best it does highlight the dreadful life of deep sea fishing, so keep it mind next time you have tuna or cod.

DO NOT BUY, OR EVEN VIEW THIS MOVIE!! even if someone pays you large amounts of cash, it's not worth it. This movie was the worst that i've ever seen with cheezy lines and goofy fish people with boston accents. if i want to see big waves i can drop my cat into the bathtub rather than subjecting myself to what seemed like a 5 hour torture marathon. i repeat, do not view this movie for any reason at all.

Lots of special effects in this, but it's just not very good. Everyone seems very calm in the end, which is a bit unbelievable. And the voice-over connection from hundreds of miles away is downright silly. Big tidal waves and lots of fish though, so it's got that going for it...which is nice.

My goodness this movie really does go out to sea. The effects, YES, they are brilliant, but the human drama is so water logged its only emotion it can wring from you is one of hilarity. I clung to my lifeboat while my friends fell laughing all around me, I refused to buy into their cynicism until near the end when Mark Whalberg is delivering what appears to be a rendition of Jim Morrison's bad poetry to his girl while about to be destoyed by a tidal wave. A perfect storm dosnt make up for an abysmal screenplay. I was as disapointed as the captain of the Titanic. Blub blub blub...

I have no idea what Mark Wahlberg thinks he's doing on screen. He flat out isn't a good actor. Clooney who I once respected on ER has gone through bad movie after bad movie. The lone bright spot being 3 kings which would have been great if not for Mark Wahlberg

The book is rather dry and non-engaging, but does explain things quite well: weather, the sea, sword fishing, etc. But the movie does a better job of engaging the viewer and bringing the characters to life.

The affects were great the acting was good. Just one point, and I'm sorry if this ruins anyone's ending, but it is a real event but everything was made up. No one survived to tell the story!

I was told when I bought this movie it was just Okay. Yea right ! I was a well put togeather, excellent cast, fantastic F/X movie. I had to watch it 4 times in the same day because I enjoyed it so much.

once you have seen the movie, why bother buying it? theres no real good scenes in the movie you would want to see more than once... action is good at points, but thats it. it seemed like they tried to make a movie out of nothing.. and well it was just ok.. pass on buying this..

The people behind this one get an "A" for effort, but it just didn't fully come together. In an effort to show just how perfect and monsterous the storm was, they show it too us way too much. I was disaffected by the end. Also, nice effort trying to give the characters lives outside fishing, but their scenes with wives and kids just made me roll my eyes. Not to say that the movie sucks. The special effects are great, and the fact that it's a true story carries some weight with me. I just wish the makers would have used a bit of restraint with the big storm.

Wahlberg and Clooney are good in the movie, but the story line is WEAK!!! You know from the get-go what's going to happen.

The computer creation of the storm is great. But the build up to the storm is tedious. One has to go through a lot of trash talk. But then they are only fishermen. All in all a great movie about a real life event.

I saw it in the theaters and bought the DVD. I highly recommend this movie. It is so much based on the actual event. I remeber when the tradegy happened. Myself, I have been to the banks in Mass on a boat. It's a wonderful place. It's too bad that the people on the boat died. If only the storm never hit or they stayed where they were. They would be alive today!!!! If you really wanna know what happened, then this movie is worth the money to purchase. Look at all the bad ratings. That is so pathetic. I guess these people don't know what a good movie is, especially when its based on a true story.

If you are one for happy endings, this movie is not for you. I understand that not all movies can have a good ending, but there is absolutely NOTHING good that comes of this event. It's a completely unfinished story. I seriously sat in the theater 5 minutes after the credits started rolling waiting for something else. I sat there bawling, because it attaches you to the characters, and then look what happens. It would be different if there was a lesson to the story or a moral, but it doesn't have one. The only good thing about it is the special effects. Otherwise, don't waste your time.

I have read a few reviews from other people. What people seem to be forgetting is that this movie was based on a true story. To add other events would make it fictional. I do however agree that they took too much time familiarizing us with the characters and not enough time with the storm. Overall, worth renting but not buying.

I rented it for the weekend. Everyone in my family watched it two times "on the edge of sofa." I feel sorry that I didn't go to the theater to see it on a big screen. Don't understand why it got just 3 * out of 5. Highly recommend!

It was one of the best movies I have seen in forever! It was very suspensful and I was always on the edge of my seat. This movie had a GREAT storyline and it made me feel like I was actually there! By the end of the movie I had no fingernails left because it was so intense.

A overal descent movie. At the beginning the movie starts out slow and alittle dumb but it gets better as soon as they take off to water and the special EF-X are incredible.

With special effects that make you think you are in the middle of THE PERFECT STORM, this movie takes you to the coast of Massachusetts and lets you feel what these heroic men went through. A great storyline, good acting, and BAD Boston accents make this movie an interesting combo, but one worth your investment. 4 stars!
