    Pros: Truth

    Cons: Blood

This is a beautifully made film. At first it might seem very gruesome but that is exactly the way it is depicted in The Bible. Our Lord suffered. All films to date aren't even close to depicting the last 12 hours as far as his suffering is concer...ned. This film did it. It also helps you recognize the importance of his sacrifice for us. Are we worthy of the suffering that he did for us? We have to re-evaluate our relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ before it is too late............Thank You!!!!!!! Read more Less

Pros: Cinematic genius, historically accurate, brilliant acting

Cons: Too intense for small children

Scripture states that the Christ was beaten beyond recognition, and the fact that Mel Gibson has depicted that in this film seems to be the thing about this movie that has turned the stomach of so many reviewers. Which is a shame since it is the vio...lence done upon The Christ and the "Passion" he undergoes that is the heart, the theme of this film. Yes, the scene where Jesus is flogged is violent, bloody, brutal, heart-rending, frightening, disgusting, and it still doesn't depict fully the violence that was done. In this film Judas's suicide is depicted, but scripture tells us that after he died Judas's body fell to the ground and his intestines spilled on the ground. If Gibson was after gore he could have shown that, but he doesn't bother to show us that since the betrayer is not his focus, Jesus is. If you want to understand the Christian faith, either as a seeker, a believer, or just out of curiosity, you should seek out and study three sources: Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ," The Gospel of John, and the book "More than a Carpenter" by Josh McDowell. This movie is definitely ane eye-opener. Read more Less
