This film cemented Jerry Lewis's reputation as a comic genius; he co-wrote and co-produced the film while also turning in a fabulous performance. This film served as the basis for Eddie Murphy's later Nutty Professor films.

    I don't know why they even bothered to make an updated version of this movie. It doesn't even compare to this classic version of "the nutty professor". Jerry Lewis and Buddy Love are awesome in this movie. See this one if you dig older flicks, if no...t, just miss out!! Read more Less

    Perhaps Mr. Lewis's best work, the Nutty Professor has been sorely left out of today's focus. This is not surprising in light of its recent remake and subsequent follow-up activity by one Eddie Murphy. Fact is though that it was that Bud and Lou's c...omic take on good and evil's Jekyll & Hyde that inspired Lewis's "hip" twentieth century view that had subsequently fathered Mr. Murphy's smash. So now it's time to address all those who never saw the root of Mr. Murphy's inspiration with a dvd restoration of the real deal. Jerry's classic is one funny movie in dire need of an upgrade. Will someone please wake up the "guys" in the studio and let me know when the dvd version is available?Help!!!Ira Sherman Read more Less
