The Night Land
Note:
William Hope Hodgson wrote essays, and fiction. His fiction consisted of fantasy fiction, horror stories, and science fiction. His hobbies included body-building and photography. The Night Land was published in 1912. It is part of the Dying Earth subgenre. The story begins with a 17th century man grieving for his lost love. He is given a vision of a later time when people will be reunited. The story progresses to a time when the sun has gone out and the earth is dimply lit by volcanic residue. The last million people are huddled in a metal pyramid and are under attack by an unknown forces from without. .
