New Regime is really just one person, multiinstrumentalist Ilan Rubin. Rubin began playing drums at the age of eight and by the age of nine he was already playing drums for a band, F.o.N., and was a veteran of several stops on the Vans Warped Tour. But Rubin was more than just a drummer, and before he was a teen he was already proficient on guitar and piano as well. He next joined the band Denver Harbor, who released a single album, Scenic, in 2004 before disbanding. Rubin then hooked up with the Welsh band Lostprophets. He also began tracking his own material as a side project, singing and playing all the instruments himself, and the end result, Coup, was released in 2008 under the name New Regime. Later that same year Rubin replaced Josh Freese as the drummer for Nine Inch Nails.
