The type of bizare movie I love
This is one of my favorite types of movies - weird. Most movies are so predictable but this one had me guessing. Very engrossing and nothing unbelievable in the plot.

Uneven, but tingly, horror film. Puzzlement:
it uses the Silver Bridge tragedy of the late
1960s as a backdrop -- yet all the settings and

Not worth renting. I thought this movie would be great, I went all over town trying to rent it. When I finally got it, watched it, I was very VERY disapointed. Wasn't scary in the least. Rent something else tonight. Two thumbs down.

This is a very scary film, which really gets the imagination going. It's a lot like Blair Witch because the excitement and drama is internal.. there's no "witch" that comes out and scares the viewers. Instead, it's a kind of scare that makes you wonder, if there are angels and aliens that come to warn you how to avert disaster, how could it communicate?

While the previews led me to expect something a little more eerie,the overall story was interesting enough. Gere does a workable job,even if he does buy into the mystery a little too easily. A little slower than I expected it to be, but I didn't feel that it dragged. It builds up nicely and doesn't wallow into too much sap. I was hoping it would explain a little more at the end, but all in all, a good rental

When I first saw this movie I thought It looked more like a horror movie than something more of the mystery/supernatural genre. This is a very slow paced movie that builts on until the end, however there really is no end. I was incredibly disapointed to never discover the answer to this mystery. Then there's the part about "based on a true story." I would like to know what exactly is true in this movie? However I would see this movie again just to get the chills down my spine when I hear that one mans voice...All in all I liked this movie because there arn't too many like it. It's very unique and at least deserves a rental.

This movie was decent. Certain parts of the movie lacked interest but the plot was interesting. It was not as scary as the previews depicted. Rent it and see for yourselves but don't expect an award winning film.

If you really want to see this movie, rent it. This movie is boring, lame, and it stunk. I went and seen this movie with great expectations, I was badly mistakened. I would never watch this movie gain. Richard Gere did a horrible job in this movie.

Freaky, it is one of the those movies that keeps you on the edge of your seat. And leaves you wanting even more. Love it and would highly recommened it. Just not with children under the age of 16.

loosely based on real events, but definitely erie how it all happened. did a lot of research on this one - "don't get confused", there aren't supposed to be any solid answers to the questions the movie asks. in fact, that is why i enjoyed the movie so much, it made me want to learn more about the mothman mystery. there is not much in the way of actual evidence, but some of the interviews i read with actual people who claimed to have seen this "mothman" are pretty awesome. some go back as far as 1000 years . . . spooky.
only downside to movie is odd camera work and out of place footage that separates the different scenes. most of the time it's fairly cheesy, but a few times it is very creepy.Was this review helpful? Yes - NoSupernatural masterpiece
Definitely one of the best supernatural movies I've seen, eerie and scary, nicely done,..the fact that it was based on actual events only makes it creepier..I was surprised that no movies to my knowledge of the Mothman has ever been made until now...after so many years the legend still lives..

The Mothman Prophecies is now available on Video Compact Disc (VCD) in Malaysia, probably the first legal video release in the world. For purposes of market protection and leverage prevention, sale is not licensed to anywhere else. Price is RM 19.90 (approximately US$5.25 or less than 3 British Pound). Nevertheless, online video retailers for VCD are readily available and sale is available throughout the world (kind of infringing of course but who gives a hey).
Video Compact Disc is like VHS on Compact Discs. They come in 2, 3, even 4 discs for each movie title. Most come in 2, some in 3, and a few in 4 discs. Capacity (movie length) dictates the number of discs required. Advantages include longer lifespan than VHS and substantial space and weight savings.
Disadvantages are commonly attributed to technological factors. It's easy to duplicate original videos for sale at rock-bottom price (the pirated market). Pirates are making huge money in Malaysia and other countries (Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, etc) in the region. Quality of pirated videos range from immerchantable ones to DVD-like ones. Many VCDs are directly duplicated from DVDs so one can expect to be sort of watching DVD on a VCD. It's verbally called VCD DVD copy or DVD Video CD.Was this review helpful? The Mothman Prophecies was one of the freakiest films I've seen lately. The story of the "mothman" is incredible...and to know it's based on true facts just makes it all the more amazing. I would definately recommend this film— great acting, great storyline, and plot twists that keep you begging for more!

I HAVEN'T BEEN THIS SCARED IN A MOVIE SINCE I WAS 10. I LOVED IT AND I WOULD RECOMMEND EVERYONE GO AND SEE IT. IT KEEPS YOU ON EDGE THE WHOLE TIME. IT MAKES THE MOVIE WORTH WAITING FOR THE END. THE FEELING YOU HAVE THE WHOLE TIME THE MOVIE ON IS ERIE.

Don't ask me how this movie ended, I left at the hour and forty minute mark when I decided that I had had enough. From the horrible Moth symbolism to the blurred focus to the ultra high speed jittery seguey scenes...Suffice it to say that the cinematography is annoying too. There was no point; there were no answers; there was no plot. Don't waste your money, go see the Count of Monte Cristo
