This legend according to the Roman Catholic Church did occur. IT is the story that Karl Moeller had come across and made a movie out of it. The fact that the nun was in constant prayer with The Blessed Mary the agriculture was abundant and the land w...as blessed helping a poor village. Once the nun(Sister Teresa) left her vows, the relationship was broken. The village suffered for it crops withered, drought set in for several years. But the Blessed Mother saw ahead what was in store for sister Teresa being in the world. Meanwhile, (The Statue of the Bleseed Mother) was transformed by the mercy of God from stone statue to human flesh to take sister Teresa's place until she returned. And the relationship restored, thus bringing back the rain and hope to a prosperous future crop. Now that part of the statue being transformed into flesh is not so far fetch. If you know your bible scripture remember Lot's wife being turned into a pilar of stone salt for turing-back to view GOD's destruction of Sodom.
