This is a now forgotten little gem, that gets shown on French TV occasionally due to the presence of Lino Ventura in the cast. Shot at the end of the seventies, when disaster/horror movies where in the fashion, this film goes for the more psychologic...al route, with a slow build-up but has its own creepy moments. The finale is as gloomy as you would expect. Treat yourself and rent/buy this film if you can. Read more Less

    Underrated supernatural thriller!

It would seem that few people in the U.S. ever saw or even remember this film (however, because it was shot in Britain it quite a cult following there). I was fortunate enough to keep a copy of it from many years ago. I grant you that it's a tad slo...w compared to the MTV style movies of today, but the acting is flawless across the board. Richard Burton is absolutely captivating as the sinister lead character and the late Lee Remick is also top notch. The supporting characters are also excellent, especially Lino Ventura as the French detective investigating a series of deaths linked to Burton. The story revolves around a man (Richard Burton) who believes he has the power to "create catastrophe." Lee Remick plays his psychiatrist, who starts to wonder if he's actually capable of what he says. The movie has a slow burn, but really kicks into high gear in the third act. The ending is a shocker. If you ever get a chance to catch this rare flick, do yourself a favor and check it out. Read more Less
