Pros: Incredible ending to a fantastic story
Cons: There won't be more
Every Christ figure must be crucified, I suppose, but there are some casualties along the way that I truly wish had not happened. This film is the brilliant conclusion to the Matrix trilogy. Some scoff at the special effects, the contrived plot, the complex philosophy. I am only pleased that every time I watch this movie and the others in this series that there is something new to discover. The complex plot of the Matrix reaches its awe-inspiring conclusion, and the only lingering disappointment is that the story has ended. What a brilliant story it has been!
Pros: Futuristic realism
Cons: Ineveitability of the outcome
The Matrix from the very beginning(part 1) has been a success, like all stories that must come to an end, this one followed its course and came to its own inevitable conclusion. The telling of it was as clear and beautifully executed as it could possibly be.The story itself like some movies was more of a message, than anything else, entertaining yes, awe inspiring? absolutely, but more motivational and educational to a large extent. It's either you accept the message or not, u dont have to like it. Neo and Trinity's final journey and the final battle in Zion was part of that complete message. it couldn't have been any other way or the message wouldn't be passed across nor the story finished. The Matrix Saga is one of the most outstanding movies ever produced, not just for the pictures, sound,or cast, but this story of,enduring, love, faith,ho
pe,victory,loss,truth,cou
rage and the "workings" of destiny (set in a futuristic world of machines and programs, which is just the stage setting)was meant to be told, and what a beautiful story it is.
Pros: APU vs. Sentinels
Cons: Neo vs Smith
The part of this movie which I liked was when the battlion of APU mechs took on 250,000 Sentinels. The one that bombed was the finel Neo vs. Smith battle; couldn't they have given Neo some friggin Uzis?
Pros: The Ships were the only things worth watching.
Cons: Neo dies, Trinity dies, Humans live, machines live.
This movie just sucked all the way around. Didn't like the ending, interesting beginning but that is all I can say.
Pros: More action and better dialogue than Reloaded
Cons: It just doesnt look as good as the 1st movie
Now any real movie buff will say that this movie was good. The FX are so spectacular that it showed another great thing about these movies: They upped the graphics every time and they looked almost flawless. What is so surprising is that most Matrix fans cannot face the reality that the second and the third movie did not add up to the expectations of the viewers. The whole reason why there was a second and third movie made was the Wachowski Brothers gave in to the fans. They should have just left it at one movie so we wouldn't have had to spend money on two disappointing sequels. They are okay movies, but they just didn't convince me to give them a five star rating. The poor dialogue in the second Matrix convinced me to give it a three star rating because that type of dialogue bogged down the entire movie. The action scenes took too long to get to and it just seemed to never end as a result. The third has more action, less dialogue, and spectacular fight scenes. The final battle between Neo and Smith was a real downer. I have never seen such a disappointing ending to a movie ever. With that aside, it is worth looking at because it is better than the second movie. Just don't be surprised if you feel a little cheated at the end if the movie.
Pros: good graphics
Cons: crap
In the end Noe died in the position of a cross and the face made of sentinels said it is finished just like in the bible.
Ill admit Noe saved everyone but he is not Chjrist nor could he even come close to it. This movie sucked
Pros: Better than anything you've ever seen
Cons: Is it over yet? Yes it is.
I'm not going to start with the 'OW', 'AH', 'WHALAA', 'BEAUTIFUL', and all that. I'm going to simply say a well deserved "Well done" to the Wachoskwi brothers for such brilliance in movie making. Keep it up. There has never been any like the Matrix Trilogy and I doubt if there ever will be (Spiderman 2? Duh...).
I noticed a lot of reaction, negative ones, from other reviewers and i read through. All i found out was pure misunderstanding. Some said that 'there wasn't a lot of matrix' and some said 'there were too many Zion scene'. It shows how much more bad movie makers are still out there in this 21st century.
Okay let's start with the obvious, the truth. A lot of people just don't understand the movie. Too many anger was centred on the way it ended (some like to give other lame excuses like the ones above but the truth is...). I too was one them. I expected Neo to simply thrash smith and return to the real world with Trinity (and not blind!), then later on have a couple of little Neo and Trin hackers and ones. But that wasn't the case. The fact is that we all refused to face the obvious. We refused to reason, rather we dwelt in our very own fantasies.
'Everything that has a beginning has an end' is written on every Revolutions poster. It is also advertised with the movie, and also comes on the front cover of the DVD, which i just got yesterday. During run time, the Oracle tells Neo that '...He is you, your opposite, a result of the unbalanced equation trying to balance itself...'. She also tells Neo that 'One way or another, this war has to end...', emphasising later that the faith of human race lies in Neo's hands or Smith's.
If you expected my fantasy ending, then I'm sorry- you've got it all wrong.
Neo understood that he would have to, at all cost, win the fight against smith, because only through that could he save his race (humans). But he failed to understand the part about Smith being his opposite. He also failed to realise the truth in the simply phrase, 'Everything that has a beginning has an end'.
Smith had to be destroyed to save the human race, but how? He came from the source(his beginning)and he had to go back to the source (his end). Neo only knew this when Smith himself said so.
There was no way Neo could have beaten Smith in combat. He couldn't beat himself.
It took me 20 times of watching the Revolutions to descover this and fully understand it. If you buy the DVD you will learn more. There are a lot of hypocrites and you will hear there own point of view. Get the all 3 DVDs and complete the MATRIX collection. You won't regret it.
Pros: kick ass special effects, awesome war scene in zion
Cons: slow beginning, ending sucked
Revolutions, by itself, would be considered a great movie. However, It had a tough act to follow, considering the first Matrix was one of the best movies ever. There was too much Zion in the movie, but the fight scene with the machines and the humans was awesome. The fight between Neo and Smith was a little overdone, with the flying around and all that. Another pro was Persephone's dress. Who didnt enjoy that?
Pros: Tons of extras, exceptional sound and picture, special effects.
Cons: storyline.
Loved the first two in the trilogy. Big fan of the whole "MATRIX" product line... This movie was horrible.
The best things about the aformentioned trilogies are that each episode was good as a stand alone movie. This is not the case for this poorly written movie with meeningless and sometimes confusing dialogue. I know that I am breaking a lot of the die hard "FANBOY'S" hearts out there, but stop fooling yourself...the MATRIX isn't real. Now go dry your tears and come to the realization that this movie was a horrible waste of time, money, and a perfectly good movie series.
Pros: good visuals
Cons: boring
the war scene was just too long. I kept falling asleep & when I woke up, the darn thing was still on. Not enough Neo. We kept asking - "where"s Neo?".
Pros: it really gives a good ending to series
Cons: i still love the first
The only real reason i purchased Revolutions was because the Reloaded ending sucked.
In the end after i watched all three in a row, i actually understood the trilogy with the final chapter in place.
The things that are left out in the first two movies are put into this one.
It had some excellent special effects, but my mind is still made up...MATRIX 1 is truly the best movie ever made!
Pros: Great effects
Cons: Sometimes hard to follow
Wow. That is what I have say about the third Matrix film. There are very few "trilogies" that really make it. Star Wars, Raiders, Back to The Future are three of the top in my book. If I were to compare films, I would say that the creators of "The Matrix" were influenced by Star Wars in many ways. Why? Good vs.. Evil. In the first three Star Wars films, Luke Skywalker was discovering who he was, and what he had to do. Yoda could be compared to the Oracle. Both movies had death, and love. Star Wars set the stage for today's films with the EFX. The EFX in "Matrix Revolutions" were cutting edge.
Like all movies, there are some slow parts, and even some things that you would say "no way!" One might want to watch "Reloaded" before the third film, becasue this will help you understand Neo, and Smith much better. I do not want to say much more because I might give something away. I will say this, watch the end of "Reloaded" very carefully, and pay attention to Neo, and "the other guy." This is critical to the movie.
One thing I like about Revolutions, is we saw the human side of everybody. Even though Neo is superhuman so to speak, he like all "superhero's&quo
t; has flaws. Every superhero has a weakness. While these films are not based on a comic, they still are hero's, as Neo, and the rest of the gang have to "save the world," from evil.
As I suggested above, like Star Wars, and many other movies of this type, even good guys die. That is all I will say without giving away a major part of the film. If you are a big Matrix fan, than I suggest you go and see this film. As already suggested the acting in this movie was good. Although "Smith" was a bad guy, I loved the way Hugo Weaving delivers his lines. His voice is perfect for the role he played. His expressions are also perfect. I think he did a great job, that is for a bad guy! Keanu Reeves has grown so much as an actor. I loved the way his character grew from the first movie to the last, much like Mark Hamil did in the three Star Wars movies. The rest of the crew in "Matrix Revolutions" do not need much mention, because they all were good. I think they did a great job with recreating The Oracle.
Pros: great action, story, special effects, sound
Cons: none
if you were disappointed at all with pt. 2 then this one will make up for it. Excellent ending to the trilogy!!!!
Pros: Good visuals, sound, special effects
Cons: Boring fight sequence, convoluted ending
In comparison to first two movies, this one was slow in developing. I actually fell asleep during one part. The ending seemed to be hastily put together because everyone was tired of making the movie. When I need to see the Matrix in the future, this episode will not be the one I will watch.
Pros: Great Trilogy
Cons: *None
Wow
Pros: You don't see Keanu's butt like in #2, Trinity dies
Cons: It's 129 minutes long
Lord, where do I begin? Talk about your anti-climactic, overused scissor kicks and "bullet time" effects, and total lack of any meaningful characters. Bottom line: this movie is trash. But, like I said in the Pros, you don't get a shot of Keanu's white ass, so I guess that alone makes it better than Reloaded.
This movie series has been the worst train wreck of a trilogy that I've probably ever seen in my short and pathetic life. The first one was a masterpiece in plot, style, effects, etc. You name it and the first Matrix was probably praised for it. With a success like that, what else could two rookie writer/directors do with it but completely screw it up to all hell in the next two? To cut this rambling short, I'm going to narrow it down to three things that I think ruined the entire series forever.
1. The style of this movie is completely flipped on its head. Where the first one had a dark, cynical, and gritty noir feel to it, the next two just veer off into the overcrowded territory of mainstream thriller status. The dialogue is worthless one liners, it doubles back on itself to no end, and the entire meaning of every scene is so implied the characters don't really even have to do ANYTHING to get their point across.
2. Giant mechanical machine gun whatever suits. Blatant marketing scheme to produce a video game with them in it. I'm not even going to talk about the robots of the machine world either. Look! I look like a giant...thing! Maybe it's just my opinion, but I wanted Decepticons. StarScream alone would have made this movie 100 times better.
3. NO END!!! I don't know about the rest of you, but after I shilled out almost $20 to see these three movies, the least the Wachowskis can do is give me an ending that doesn't look like a commercial selling feminine hygiene products. YAY, we won! Everyone is...STILL STUCK IN THE MATRIX!!! Nothing was accomplished! And what was up with that Smith battle? First it was The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, then it was Dragonball Z, and why was only one Smith fighting Neo anyway? They should have bum rushed him just like in Reloaded. I didn't want some faux spaghetti western one on one...I wanted Neo with a huge sword and a trident slicing them to bits. I wanted him shooting lightning from his eyes and laser beams from his hands. I wanted him breathing fire and hurling whole mountains. If you're going to make an ending, REALLY make an ending.
That's it. My recommendation is to save your $20 and buy Any Which Way You Can. At least then, if you don't like the movie, you can say "Well, what can I do? The supporting actor's a freakin monkey!"
Pros: The greates movie ever filmed.
Cons: I have nothing to say in cons' of it.
Well I actually feeled a little dissapointed when I go to the movies and see Neo and Trnity dies, but now that I have watched it over and over, I finally came to realize what the fate of the one was, it couldn't ended in any other way -well believe me as a matrix fan I have Imagine hundreds of alternate endings-, but I think tht what the Wachowsky brothers (don't know if I spelled correctlly) is something big, something that matrix fans woul argue for decades, is a modern clasic. And by the way to those who say that the lord of the rings is the better movie ever filmed, you can go
Pros: Great Special Effects
Cons: Not a satisfying ending to the trilogy
The only reason I bought this DVD was to complete the trilogy. The first Matrix was great, Reloaded was good, Revolutions is just "eh". There's too much Zion and not enough Matrix. Quite frankly, I didn't care too much about what happened to the Zionites and their Aliens rip-off mech suits; they just weren't well-developed. The picture and sound quality are good, but that basically goes without saying. I wasn't real impressed with the special features. "The Matrix Re-Calibrated" is the main behind-the-scenes featurette and has some neat moments showing how all the stunts were done. The rest of the features basically expand on stuff covered in the main feature, so they didn't seem to be really worth watching. There's a timeline of the Matrix, but it's all stuff that's covered in the first two movies and the Animatrix. There's also the obligatory web links and a special look at the making of the next video game. Basically the same features we've been seeing for years. Buy it if you need to complete the trilogy. Otherwise, just stick with the first one.
Pros: Cut down on the 20 minute fight scenes
Cons: Too many to list
I thought the first film was brillant so it's a shame to see such potential go to waste. After the 2nd installment, Reloaded, I didn't think it was possible to make a worse file but they've succeeded. This film is bad in so many ways it's difficult to know where to begin. The short anwser is, it's just a boring waste of time.
Pros: great story and an ending that fits
Cons: Too much hype
If you take away your anticipation of what you think it should be this is a great movie that has an ending that fits. There is so much history to have you cant just say it is a happy ending with all the strings tied up. No movie ends that way. Take away the hype you have a great movie that people think they can just walk in and see without finding out all the backround story.
Pros: The best of the three
Cons: How can you choose between the three?
The Matrix trilogy has become my favorite movies of all time. I thought the 3rd movie was a stroke of genius in that we see Neo redeeming all the different worlds, making him a sort of cosmological saviour of sorts.
"Every beginning has an end" is the theme of the third movie. The Oracle tells Neo this and he finally begins to understand the theme above her door - "Know Thyself". The One must end that which he has begun, BUT, usher in another beginning, a time of peace.
In the "Matrix Revolutions" Neo began to realize that the Matrix was indeed some type or degree of reality when he encountered the programs on the platform. Here were two programs willing to enslave themselves to the Merovingian out of love for there program daughter - the last exile. The means for love had been given to the programs and thus the Matrix was redeemable. I sensed that the Wachowski brothers were conveying through cinema that many sought to destroy the Matrix as a means of self preservation whereas Neo, along with the help of the Oracle, came to see that all aspects of reality needed redeeming, because there was something there worth redeeming.
So there are many systems needing redemption - the humans in the Matrix, the Matrix itself, the intelligent programs in the Matrix, the intelligent machines, Zion overall, some of the people in Zion (Niobe, the boy, even Jason) and everything needs to be saved from the renegade Agent Smith. Even Agent Smith needs redeeming since he is Neo's alter ego.
This series of movies is a darn sight better than anything else I've seen in a long time - even better IMO than the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Pros: visual effects
Cons: story line lost, acting
this is the worst matrix, even worse then the 2nd one. the acting is poor, but thats kenus style i guess, the story line is completly lost, and its just so vague at the end if thier going to attempt to make anouther one. The only good part is the visual effects, dont try and see the movie more then once, 100% garnetee you'll sleep at some point during ur second viewing
Pros: Its the matrix
Cons: i cant think of any
This is a really great movie. I've always enjoyed the matrix as it is a very origional series. Good special effects!
Pros: Story, Special effects, action, everything
Cons: Nothing
Now, I know Revolutions has got alot of flak because "theres not enough dialouge" and its not "story driven" but how retarded are these critics?
Firstly- They whined and moaned that Reloaded had TOO Much character devolopment and TOO much dialouge and TOO much story. Whereas it was lacking in action.
With Revolutions they're complaining that its too much action and not enough character devolopment, dialouge, and story?
How retarded can they be? ITS THE SECOND HALF OF ONE MOVIE.
Reloaded being the first half is the talking portion, with brief action scenes in between. Revolutions was the action packed ending. But since the movie would be almost 5 hours long they had to cut it in half.
Thats mainly why people didnt like Reloaded/Revolutions, because they were two halves of a whole movie. WHy cant people understand that? Both movies were awesome. I loved the Trilogy and I consider myself a huge matrix fan. But the ignorance of some people just pisses me off.
This movies action was AMAZING, the story continued where Reloaded left off and I dont know what all those people who said "it didnt explain anything" were talking about because it explained the movie completely. Every question I had after Reloaded was either answered by watching Reloaded a few more times, or after seeing Revolutions.
Now people complain that the ending was retarded and too open ended. TOO OPEN ENDED? How would you have closed the movie? There is no other ending that could be perfect. The Matrix started right back over where "The Matrix 1" began. It just started all over. How hard is that to understand?
I could go indepth with all this on all three movies. Hell I could write for hours about this. But I'll leave it at this.
This movie is A+. The Trilogy is A+..The brothers and cast alike did a great job.
