    John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, and Lee Marvin! What more could you want in a Western! One of my all time favorites on many levels. The face off between Wayne and Marvin is one for the ages. This is one of those films that's fun to watch and then try to ...recast it. If you like Westerns, you'll love this one. Highly recommended. Read more Less

    This film is one of John Ford's best and he's made some damn fine movies. A great introduction to the complexities of Westerns overall and is a good movie even for those who usually hate the genre. If you like the Jimmy Stewart character, try watchi...ng "The Gunslinger (?)" with Gregory Peck. Read more Less

    John Wayne and James Stewart are at their best in this classic western. The story is told from the perspective of aging U.S. Senator, Ransom Stoddard (Stewart), famous all his life as "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." While on a trip to pay his re...spects to a deceased friend from long ago (Wayne), he tells the real story of the events leading up to the death of arch villan Liberty Valance in a wild west showdown. Stewart portrays the pain of knowing the truth behind the legend with a subtle touch and the viewer can almost feel him wince when a porter tells him that "nothing is too good for the Man who Shot Liberty Valance." Lee Marvin is excellent as the relentlessly evil Liberty Vallance, as is the supporting cast which includes Strother Martin as one of Liberty's gang. Read more Less
