The Maker is a little known movie directed by Tim Hunter. Hunter, better known for his television directing and most successful movie 'River's Edge,' does an excellent job of casting the now rising star Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Josh, a you...ng man about to finish high school who is haunted by images from his childhood. The Maker gives us a glimpse of the early years of Jonathan Rhys Meyer's career and even though this film was made in 1997, Rhys Meyers is clearly a talented and powerful actor even then. The film was marketed at the time of its release focusing on Matthew Modine's name. Unfortunately his performance though good as Josh's older brother embracing life as a criminal, was likely not memorable enough to promote the movie. The true stars of the film is Rhys Myers and Fairuza Bulk (from American History X and Craft) and their performances alone make this movie worth finding. Read more Less
