    Pros: awsome movie

    Cons: non

this movie was definitely the best in the trilogy in my oppinion, it was not only funny but the special effects were amazing peter jackson did a great job on this, he really pulled out all the stops and made, three movies that are so well done in com...parison to the books which u rarely find. In my oppinion this movie rocks and not only deserves any awards it winns or has won but is the best book gone movie, not only this one but the trilogy itself i have ever seen. Read more Less

    Perfection?

By Kazimierz  Nov 6, 2004 | 7 out of 8 found this The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) review helpful

    Pros: Everything was perfect

    Cons: None

Everything was amazing. This is, in my opinion the best of the three movies. The special effects are breathtaking. The new scenes open up more of the plot. I just got a little ticked after they dind't show the scouring of the shire, but hey!... What are you going to do for a movie that is this long? Even if you don't like the genre, the complexity and intricacy of the music, acting, special effects, and views will astound you. This is a must for anyone who knows anything about great films. Return of the King (extended ed.)

By Finger  Dec 17, 2004 | 4 out of 4 found this The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) review helpful

Pros: Attention to detail and overall quality

    Cons: Ending

Overall, after seeing the extended edition of Return of the King I was very impressed by the work that was put into the movie and the attention to detail that the cast and crew had. I think that Jackson's work converting the novel to the screen ...was amazing, however, like many true fans of the book I was disappointed with the movie's ending. One of the two major events of the chapter "scouring of the shire" was added to the extended edition, however the other (the state of the shire upon the hobbit's return) was overlooked, and for me that was one of the most enjoyable portions of the third book. As movies go this was great, but the old complaint that the book was better alwas comes into play. Read more Less

    AWSOME MOVIE!!!

By BenG  Nov 24, 2004 | 3 out of 3 found this The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) review helpful

Pros: Special effects, picture, plot, sound......EVERYTHING!!!

Cons: They cut off one of the best parts in the book!

This movie is one of the best movies i have EVER seen!!! It is obvious to any watcher of the film that it is the best out of all three of them also. One con though...they cut out the end part of the movie where Saurumon (sorry for any misspellings)... attacks and conquers the Shire, resulting in guriella fighting with Sarumom's goons against Frodo and his friends. If you read the third book you'll see what a great part they (apparently) edited out. Other than that one problem, the third movie of LOTR is neck in neck with even Star Wars!! The.....the....the wachamacalits......oh forget about it, the dead guys, OK! The dead guys were superb! The Battle of Pellinor Fields is like a duplicate of the attack on the Second Death Star....ONLY BETTER!!!! I hope this review was helpful to you. Read more Less

Pros: Beautiful Senery and perfect actors to play each part!

Cons: Sometimes, I couldn't understand what the actors were saying.

This movie was awesome! I loved the ending of the third movie where Eowyn killed the WitchKing. "I am no man." Ha! I also love the elven language! I so want to learn it! Anyways, Peter Jackson did an incredible job on this triligy! Th...e costumes were fantastic, and you could not have picked a better place to film this movie! The war seens were really cool, and the architecture was amazing! This was clearly the best movie I have ever seen! Read more Less

the best movie in the world

By Lissa  Jan 6, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) review helpful

Pros: everything about this movie was great

Cons: some of the added scenes were a little strange

Overall this movie was great and I would have to say that it is my favorite of the three movies. Return of the King is both touching and rewarding. The first and second movies were good however you felt somewhat disapointing due to the fact that you ...just wanted to know the end and they left you just hanging waiting for the next one.Return of the King is a great movie and if you haven't seen it then take this as a hint. It is one of the greatest movies in the world. Read more Less

The Return of the King, the extended dvd

By Mary  Jan 1, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003) review helpful

Pros: more insight into the characters

    Cons: none worth complaining about

Well I am going to say what I never thought I'd say! Someone was insane enough,or maybe like Frodo wasn't sure what they were getting into until there was no turning back. Then relying on those who shared with them the notion that no task is ...impossible when motivated by love, did it,they actualy put Tolkiens' fourteen year labour of love on the screen and did it justice! I am a great lover of Tolkiens' books.I was introduced to them over thirty years ago,as an adult and have read them many times since then.A great book can be revisited and enjoyed time and time again. So can a great film. Tolkien fans who are still complaining about Jackson and his teams ability to do Tolkiens'work justice need to get over it. Tolkien maynot have liked evey change that was made to his baby, but then he was a prefectionist and never totaly liked even his own changes he himself made.Tolkien always felt, another change here or there could improve the story. We will never know if they would have because for better or worse every great work must be put down and considered finished before it is ruined by too much what if we had done this or that instead. This was the longest of the three movies and yet it never felt long,I never even thought of a restroom break or felt like when will this end. The extended DVD dosen't feel long either. The added material fills in the gaps, like what happened to Saruman, and added to a better understanding of the characters. The background material and the behind the scenes material reveal the love and pains taking labour eveyone involved put into the films. These films are great works and will hold up to the test of time as do all great classics! Thanks to everyone involved! They've done the impossible and like Tolkien, one could second guess forever, what if this instead of this was done, but let's just enjoy a beautiful film adaptation of a great story! One last thing I was very surprised at the insight that a young man not even twenty had into the depth of a character as complex as Frodo.I quickly forgot how young Elijah Wood was and saw Frodo come to life. The whole cast was amazing, but I just had to note that what Elijah Wood did with Frodo is a credit to him as an actor and as a person, few men as young as he was would have seen so much of Frodo's spirit and soul. Thanks again to everyone involved in "The Lord of The Rings, these films like the books are more then worth seeing again and again. A word of caution though, don't try to read Tlokiens' books in a week, and please don't try to watch all three films in one day. It isnot healthy to forget to eat and tend to needs ,(besides, any good Hobbit will tell you you must eat six times a day to be truely happy). Space out the films and you'll enjoy them more and take your time with the books and you will get more out of them. Thanks again to everyone involved with these films for giving us a truely great experience! Pros: Everything!

    Cons: None

When I first saw the extended edition I was most focused on looking for the extra footage which I noticed right away, every single scene. I am in the media field at high school and every thing I do is based on this movie. It was very well directed an...d the extended features really explained a lot! Great Job Peter Jackson! Pros: The new additions to an already great movie

Cons: That the left out the happenings at the shire. Even though they said only what pertained to the ring would be included, I think this was a very important part to the books and should have been in the movie. That's why they make extended versions to put in all the things that would have made the movie too long for the theaters into the DVDs. I would have gladly $paid$ however much for the (at least 8 hour) movie!

    A Must see!
