Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) is a resident of a seemingly utopian but contained facility in the mid-21st century. Like all of the inhabitants of this carefully controlled environment, Lincoln hopes to be chosen to go to the "The Island," reportedly the last uncontaminated spot on the planet. But Lincoln soon discovers that everything about his existence is a lie. He and all of the other inhabitants of the facility are actually human clones whose only purpose is to provide "spare parts" for their original human counterparts. Realizing it is only a matter of time before he is "harvested," Lincoln makes a daring escape with a fellow resident named Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson). Pursued by the forces of the institute that once housed them, Lincoln and Jordan engage in a race for their lives to literally meet their makers.

    This was a surprising Enjoyment

    By Jennifer  Apr 26, 2006

Pros: I saw depth in the writing, talent in the actors, and FX were good too.

Cons: I can't really think of any.

The Scifi flick was great. It had the stars that were well known (Ewan McGregor,Scarlett Johanssan,Steve Buscemi, and Micheal Duncan) as well as the science fiction thoughts that are used in the older science fiction. I liked the fact that combinatio...n of old science fiction and new science ficttion were woven together. It added many dimensions to the movie making it more enjoyable. Grandiose rubbish

    By Francois  Mar 26, 2006

Pros: Great photography, set design and McGregor

Cons: Silly film, been there before and very predictable

Could this be the first modernist summer blockbuster? The sets look like they’re straight out of Wallpaper or Dwell magazine. The costume design took hints from the Armani collection, and what can we say about the cars. Am I craving a Cadillac? Thos...e American cars of the future have nothing to do with the Aztec and the Buicks of today. The story reminded me of the Matrix, the future is not a friendly place (but nice cars). All in all, a very predictable blockbuster, lots of explosions and car chases. I lost interest at minute 48 and started laughing at the dialogues soon after that. I’m a huge McGregor fan. He’s nice to look at and he’s got talent. This is not his best movie but he did well with what he had. Plus, last time I saw him on my TV, he was with his mate circumnavigating the globe on a BMW motorbike (Long Way Round). Read more Less
