    During the 70s peak of the sexual revolution, a family is torn over what is morally right. Until tradegy hits their neighbors at the end only do they realize that their family is what truly matters.

    Very Well Done

    This movie was very disturbing, but also very interesting and extremely well-directed and acted. I am 14 years old and, for those of you who did not understand it, I understanded perfectly. The movie was twisted and bizarre, but it was supposed to be.... The acting was superb, script was wonderful, everything about it was interesting. Sometimes you wondered why characters did what they did, but that was the beauty of these characters. They were so quirky and strange, it does sort of make you scratch your head. All in all, not a movie for the intellectually weak. Read more Less

    This was one of the bleakest, most depressing movies I have ever seen. From the very first scene of the movie you know that something bad is going to happen. The only reason I watched the movie all the way through was to see what tragedy was going to... unfold.The cast was good but I felt there wasn't enough character development. At the end of the movie I found myself scratching my head and wondering what the message was that the director meant to get across. Read more Less

    Self awareness for the sexuallyl repress

    Brilliant and Haunting look into the fall of the sexual revolution, as through the eyes of two Connecticut familys who are connected in ways that only could be a bi-product of the sexual revolution. Although less sexual frank and disturbing then the ...book, it holds up in ways that surpass any movie I have seen. Ice Storm holds on it's own in terms of plot, story, character formation, and the wonderfully settings that stay true to the time period. Look for breakthrough peromances from Tobey Mcquire, who does double duty as disfuntional teen over taken by a smitten romantic dream of capturing the object of his affections and movies Fantastic Four themed narater. Also look for Katie Holmes's first on screen performance which is delightful and suprisingly thourly for ones first attemp to break through hollywood. Read more Less

    I saw The Ice Storm in its original release, now several years ago and it's still fresh in my memory. Nothing in recent history has driven me so effectively into a specific time period, 1973 in this case. Stunningly real; wretching.

    Breathtaking

    My wife & I saw this movie in the theater on opening night and were not disappointed. We left the theater and did not speak for at least ten minutes. Finally, as we were driving home, one of us said, "do you think we should talk about this?" This ...is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The acting, direction and cinematography are first rate. The movie leaves you with an indescribable feeling. The looks on the character's faces at the end just take your breath away. This is a movie worth owning & watching over & over.I don't know of another movie that has ever made me feel the same way. Read more Less
