One of the few knife combat movies

    Pros: has Knife combat

    Cons: a bit gory

Lots of people did not like this movie, perhaps because of the following reason, this movie doesn't fit in your normal stereotype. So people seemed to have had difficulty placing it. It's more realistic than your average action movie, however... it is not as realistic as a documentary. It is half and half. So should you take it seriously or not so? If you think about it the plot is very similar to Rambo: First Blood. The difference is, Rambo satisfies with over the top action. In this movie the action comes from the knife, and unless your a fan of knife combat, it maybe difficult to enjoy. As for a big fan of the knife, I wish there were much more knife fighting involved. But to do that it would have to be a low budget movie. However, it does have one advantage over First Blood in that the last fight scene, is much more exciting because the opponent is formidable, Benicio versus TLJ in blade to blade was very exciting. The special features has an excellent behind the scenes where you get to see the martial art style used in the film, which was Sayoc Kali. As well as the real life model for Tommy Lee Jones' character Tracker Tom Brown. The Hunted does for knife combat what Only the Strong did for Capoeira, The Perfect Weapon did for Kenpo Karate, Above the Law did for Aikido. I haven't seen any other movie that represents knife combat so well other than Exposure with Peter Coyote which seems impossible to find in dvd. Read more Less
