i think that the haunting is one of the best movies that i have ever seen. Catherine zeta jones brings a more independent side out. i loved the whole thing!!

Remake of another classic in 1963, this one is not as good as the remake. I love the special effects but..thats it.

THE OVER ALL STORY ISN'T BAD, BUT THE SOUND AND THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE GREAT. THEY SHOULD OF FOUND A BETTER LOOKING CHICK TO PLAY THE MAIN CHARACTER. THE CHICK THAT PLAYS HER IS PRETTY UGLY

Muertehombre was very right about the acting. This terrible movie also didn't explain about Catherine Zeta Jones and Nell. It was stupid. What was their relationship? They shouldn't even have made her gay and act sexual towards Liam. And I for one am glad that Owen Wilson died. I just wish he died more painfully. And will someone please fix his jaked up nose!! It's irritating! And ridiculous. Good plot and the movie just destroyed it. Sad movie. I'm dissapointed in Catherine. She shouln've signed to this trash.

Incredibly poor movie. Nice special effects, but doesn't measure up in the least to the original masterpiece that director Robert Wise created for the 1963 version. As for anything think the movie "twister" or "Speed". The director has no sense of subtley, you feel like you are being run over by a herd of "ghosts". Give this one a big Zero on the critics oujia board.

I just finished watching this, and I am very glad I bought it. The movie was very, very scary. It had a lot of depth and the effects made this stand out. I also liked the cast, Catherine Zeta-Jones is one of the best actresses I have seen. This movie, considering it as a loner, not connected to any other verisions of "The Haunting" was absolutley wonderful and should be on any horror lovers collection.

This movie was a little scary, but it is in no way like the 1963 version. It was way to corny with the way they showed the ghost. It was in no way mysterious. The actors were good, but the whole movie was special effects. This movie is not worth watching over and over.

I was scared a few times while watching the movie that does not really happen to me that often. Some scenes are really creepy and push your adrenalin level to the limits. The movie scares you implicitely most of the time, so it is not for the moviegoers who like gory scenes. Visual and sounds effects are good. Finally, if you do not have heart attacks you will.

Good movie except for the bad acting of Lili Taylor. The mansion was the perfect setting. I don't like blood bath movies and this wasn't.

The ending SUCKED. The scariness SUCKED
No joke, the best thing was Catherine Zeta-Jones..and the house used was pretty cool. The other actress did the worst job EVER!! She runs after a ghost to see it , she tries to open a door she knows has "something" behind it? NO Way anyone would run. The things that go on in this movie are so poorly acted, and even worsely thought through that I was not surprised at how this never made it to the box-office. See it if you want a comedy, but deffinetly not a horor. Have fun people, but please...trust me on this one, get austin powers II its way more scaryWas this review helpful? Yes - NoAwesome set design
The movie itself is certainly not as good as the original film with Julie Harris, yet I have to admit that the set design is incredible. It does however seem strange to me that these days, story and plot and character can take second place to -set design-

I enjoyed the movie but the original movie was more scary than this movie could have been. The special effects were great but I will stick with the original for a scare. Personally I will have this one on my video library, I don't know what it is but I do like this movie enough to have it on my shelf.

This movie was pretty bad. Recently rented it and thought I would be scared but my 2 and 3 year olds didn't even get scared at some scenes they watched. The special effects were off the hook, but the plot... The ending didn't make any sense either. I would have given it 2 stars had they shown some T&A. DO NOT BUY - I'M WARNING YOU!

All the suspence and the house coming alive was all cool. The computer graphics in this movie were awesome. When I saw this movie, in the part where the doors were shaking because of a fierce beating on them, I thought it would be funny if they opened the doors and the caretaker's wife said "Breakfast is Served"

This movie was the biggest waste of two hours that I've ever had the displeasure to experience. The plot alone is stupid enough; its a haunted house! And there was nothing fresh or new about it! Just a damn haunted house! Now mix this plot with the most haphazard, defunct cast ever to disgrace the big screen, and you've got one terrible movie. Catherine Zeta Jones was the icing on the bad acting cake; she's about as low as any casting director has gone. There's more to an actor than looks! And that is for sure all she has! (Just to let you know, I will not watch Entrapment, simply because she's in it.) Lili Taylor: I suppose that her character was supposed to be the victim in this movie, I hope we weren't meant to feel pity, but the only thing she was here was ANNOYING. "I have to help the children!" Liam Neeson, how could you stoop so low? Is there any dignity left in you? And as for that last guy, I don't know your name, but I'm glad at least you ended up dead. I only wish Catherine Zeta Jones' character followed you into the fireplace. The special effects were the only things that were remotely interesting, and even those were a joke. There is more to a movie than special effects! Honest! A movie can be carried by stimulating dialogue! Its happened before! And the last 15 minutes, that about made me gag. "Its all about family!" Give me a stick to shove down my throat.
Overall, this movie is a walking dung heap put on film. Just look who directed it: the same guy who did Speed (oh, that's a real good one!) and Twister (the movie known for its stirring dialogue.)Was this review helpful? Yes - NoPoor film making
This movie is by far one of the worst films of the year. It was not scarry, the special effects were horrible(not that I really care about special effects in a movie) and the story was stupid. couple of people go in to a haunted house they get scared some die thats it! Its Pathetic!
