Essentially an alternative country side project for Groovie Ghoulies singer/bassist Kepi, the Haints include not only all three members of the Ghoulies (, Kepi, drummer Scampi, and guitarist Roach) but also add guitarist Cory Vick and percussionist David Houston to the mix. Conceived as a way for the Groovie Ghoulies to play more local gigs, Kepi formed the Haints in 2004; that same year, the group released its first album, Hurt Alone. Despite Kepi's hectic schedule of touring, managing his Green Door Records label, publishing, and painting, the Haints returned in 2007 with Battle of Wounded Heart.
