Synopsis: The Great Ziegfeld (1936)

Ziegfeld begins his career as a sideshow barker and works his way to becoming the Broadway impresario extraordinaire. He marries temperamental actress Anna Held, but their relationship is too turbulent to last. Later, he marries another actress, Billie Burke and, after enduring many dark days, finds fame with four simultaneous Broadway hits.

    I had seen this film on TV ages ago, unfortunately cut to shreds. I purchased the video as this is one of the three movies Fanny Brice ever made. She plays herself. We actually get to see her sing a portion of her signature song, "My Man." In that r...espect, I consider this film priceless as an account of early Broadway musical theatre. Read more Less
