1940. Europe is in the grips of war, and Chaplin release this great masterpiece. A comical and chilling look at Hitler's Germany, whilst at the same time underlying the persecution of a race and their ultimate doom.Chaplin gives a superb performance..., one as the comical barber, and another as the short tempered dictator. This movie also contains some classic scenes. Hynkel's love affair with world domination and the Barber's shaving methods stand out.Perhaps the most powerful, gutsy and truthful films ever made. A film that tried to bring the world around to what attrocities that the Nazi's were committing across Europe, in their relentless persecution of the Jews.Chaplin's first full length talkie picture concludes with a powerful speech that has a much relevance today as 60 years ago.Perhaps the greatest film ever made not to win the Best Picture Oscar.
