Synopsis: The Gospel (2005)

A young singer turns his back on God and his father's church when tragedy strikes. He returns years later to find the once powerful congregation in disarray. With his childhood nemesis creating a "new vision" for the church, he is forced to deal with family turmoil, career suicide and relationship issues that send him on a collision course with redemption or destruction.

    Pros: Great film, cameo appearances, and plot

    Cons: Not the best lead actor

    I love great gospel music. This film had a lot of this. From the often appearances of Fred Hammond and H Walker, to the role played by AI's Tamyra Grey. The story, following the traditional Prodigal Son story, shows the struggle of the modern mal...e in the Church...he leaves but the lord brings him back for a larger purpose...supporting the church and Gods word through his voice....the story isnt perfect but the emotions and performances by these and many other urban gospel performers makes this a soulful and divine adventure... check it out and decide....     Pros: Great music, good family film,

    Cons: slow to the point

    I really liked the movie. Boris Kodjoe's great looks compensate for his lack of singing abilities in this film. It has a good story line, but it takes the film a while to get going. Great music, I would recommend adding this DVD to your collectio...n. Read more Less
