    Good old-fashioned sci-fi

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Nov 5, 1999 | 3 out of 3 found this The Fifth Element (1997) review helpful

This was like watching a sci-fi comic book come to life. Lots of very improbable situations presented in a very plausible manner. Loved the scenery. A good hero saves to day movie with a twist.

    Great Movie and Special effects!!!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 26, 2002 | 2 out of 2 found this The Fifth Element (1997) review helpful

Bruce Willis was great in this movie, actually this movie reminds me alot like one of the stories in the "Heavy Metal" animation movie where a 2200 century New York Cab Driver helps an unknown beautiful stranger. If you seen it you'll know what I mea...n, like it took the cartoon version and make it real only changing the story. Anyway the movie was full or action, comedy and drama. Read more Less

    The Fifth Element

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jan 19, 2005 | 1 out of 1 found this The Fifth Element (1997) review helpful

Pros: well put together sci-fi highly enjoyable

Cons: could of done better on the special featuers

This Is easily one of the best sci-fi films I've seen in ages. The action is fast paced and there's actually a good story line unlike most of the other dribble that has come out recently (except matrix). And suprisingly extremely funny Bruce ...wills is hilarious and not to mention Chris Tucker as rudy. All said and done I Highly recommend this film to anyone not just for sci-fi fans. Read more Less

    GREAT FLICK ESPECIALLY IN AC-3

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Feb 7, 2002 | 1 out of 1 found this The Fifth Element (1997) review helpful

If you have a DVD player this is a must to own. It's way too good just to see once. The animated graphics are very good and for a futuristic universe, you are pulled into the movie. Milla Jojovich is magnificent and Bruce Willis does a great job.... And, oh yeah, there's Chris Tucker - he plays a very irritating character. The sound in Dolby Digital is A+ and the DVD is well done. Wish they would have put some extras into it. Read more Less

    Wish There Was A Sequel

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Aug 20, 2003 | 1 out of 2 found this The Fifth Element (1997) review helpful

I like to laugh so I loved the movie. I have one tape for the vcr upstairs and one for downstairs. I thought the movie was very well done and I would like to see a sequel. I have always been a fan of Bruce Willis' one liners and his delivery. I...t seems that the movie was made with him in mind. This is one movie I can watch effortlessly over and over again without a problem. Read more Less

To even compare this film to Battlefield Earth is criminal. You act like you just watched the movie because you said that there are no good sci fi films since matrix...well, my friend the Fifth Element was out long before the Matrix. I think before... you start bashing films maybe you should find out the facts first. Read more Less

    Comedy but drama in space

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Sep 10, 2006

Pros: You think it's going to be campy and silly

Cons: The actually is meaning in the comedic madness

I first wanted to see this film because of Milla Jovovich. Initially I'd seen her in another film, so I was curious to see how far her talent could stretch. Much to my surprise it was well worth the watch. Milla plays (LeeLoo) an intergalactic sp...ecial being, that was created by the Matochiwan as an element to save the planet from evil. In the course of fulfilling her destiny, other character players Gary Oldman (Mr. Zorg) who also played Dracula in the 2004 version directed by (?), then we have Bruce Willis (?) and Chris Tucker as (Rubie Rod) an extravagantly bi-sexual outrageous character. The movie had lots of comedy scenes, the production was outstanding, as seeing the designer John Paul Gaultier designed all clothing for this film. In this film, the culprit of all the problems are these 4 stones, when activated by (leeloo) the Fifth Element, something very amazing and saving of humanity happens. There are usual shootouts, space rides and scenes enough to make the film beliable. No way can you get bored with this film. Buy it, you'll be glad you did. Read more Less

    I Love This Movie!

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jul 24, 2006

Pros: fast action, funny, strong plot, great special effects

Cons: Milla Jovovich; romantic sub-plot is weak

I love this movie. It is a laugh-out-loud super ride. Gary Oldman is at once vicious, creepy and cowardly -- one more stellar performance in a steller career. Bruce Willis plays the typical brash, sarcastic hero, which he does to perfection. Chris Tu...cker as "Ruby Rudd" is a riot. He kept me laughing so hard I couldn't eat my pop corn. Milla Jovovich, obviously cast for her ability to look good in rubberbands, added little more to the movie than her beauty. The Fifth Element has a special place in my private collection. I've watched it many times. Read more Less

    Action in the Distant Future

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Jun 1, 2006

    Pros: Fast-Paced, Funny, Exciting

    Cons: Hardly plausible

This is a fun movie, there's no better way to put it. It starts off with a bang, and hardly stops until the end. It has it all, space monsters, distant planets, futuristic NYC, explosions, and a creepy villian. Sure, you could roll your eyes at t...he imperfections, but you hardly have time to notice if you want to keep up. Kind of like a dumbed-down "12 Monkeys" meets a smartened-up "The Mummy".
