Synopsis: The Fastest Gun Alive (1956)

Glenn Ford plays a retired gunfighter looking for a little peace. Unfortunately, the way to get a reputation as the fastest gun alive is to beat him to the draw and he can't get away from his past. Don't bother with the colorized version of this classic Western.

    Quiet man with a fast gun

    Unfortunately, the synopsis is incorrect about Glenn Ford playing a "retired" gunfighter. However, the role he DOES play is the quiet storekeeper who just happens to be the Fastest Gun Alive and no one knows except his wife. This is the kind of rol...e Glenn Ford is perfect at. Overall, this is a 4-star offering. The dance scenes with Russ Tamblyn could have been left out. Broderick Crawford doesn't quite fit the image of a fast gun but nevertheless, plays it well. If you enjoy westerns and quick-draw gunfights, you won't be disappointed with this one. Read more Less
