    THE NEW HOLIDAY CLASSIC

Pros: A great take on how families can be.

Cons: Not the gratest features on dvd.

I saw this film, expecting it to be the typical boy brings girlfriend home to meet his family, a typical comedy. It is so much more. Sarah Jessica Parker shows a different side of her acting ability by playing an uptight professional, a good strech f...or her. She tries to be a people pleaser with her boyfriend's family, and just fails miserably. Rachel McAdams gives Parker no easy time with trying to fit in. Also a good role for McAdams, the snooty younger sister who does not let up on Parker. Diane Keaton is the jewel in this movie. Wonderfully accompanied by Craig T. Nelson. The pair of them set the mood to this movie. Both give great performances. Showing how parrents can be understanding, keeping a sense of humor while dealing with a family that just comes at you from all angles. There are several surprises in this movie, with the entrance of Claire Daines, to the real life situations you wouldn't expect from this type of movie. This movie is now one of my new favorites, and you have to see it to enjoy all the moments it gives you from begining to end. Read more Less

    Not another cliched movie

    Pros: Loved the movie

    Cons: Nothing

This is a move where two culture differences collide. Of courses a woman who lives in New York City is having a hard time adjusting to the lifestyle of the country. But she's also struggling to admit that she doesn't really love the man who w...ill ask to marry her. In fact he doesn't really love her either. The family knows that they don't love each other. Especially during a heated debate of being a homosexual. Which one of the three sons are. She recklessly damages his car and ends up sleeping with his brother (excluding the gay one). In the end they all find who they really love and it takes a family chirstmas gathering for them to realize that. Overall this is one of the best x-mas themed moves I've ever saw. So much drama in all the right places. No over cliched scenes. Read more Less
