Emily Rose & the Catholic agenda

By Yahoo! Shopping User  Dec 26, 2005 | 2 out of 2 found this The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) review helpful

    Pros: Great movie

Cons: Based on a true story - false claim

The movie depicts a catholic priest who is dragged into court for negligent homicide. Doctors claim Emily could have been treated. But because of Religion she was neglected. Through out the movie we hear testimony of a priest & doctors. Many who did ...not witness but gave opinion to what her illness may have been. The priest of course was there & one actual doctor. On a farm out in the middle of no where. The Priest has the thing being audio recorded. My question is why not a video camera? Here comes some problems. The doctor who allegedly witnesses the exorcism is ran over by a car. How convenient. The family admits being devout. Emily never is treated in an actual hospital. On a farm where only of a handful of people see. Most of what you hear or see visually about Emily will come from her own letters & family comments. The priest is defended by an Agnostic. The Agnostic woman only has the family, & doctor to rely on. She is losing big time. So she resorts to faith & the agnostic trade mark “It’s possible, anything is possible”. In one of Emily’s letter’s she claims “God allowed her to suffer so the world would have proof of demons, in turn making us all believe in God”. So if this was to be true…why put on a show for a handful of people. The movie is good. But it has an agenda to make religion seem real. It is spooky & keeps your interest. I’m sure many will use this movie as proof for God. I however am not convinced & remain Atheist. Read more Less

    The Exorcism Of Emily Rose

    Pros: Good Cast

    Cons: Slow in parts, Unbelievable

This film finally premiered on Encore, so I recorded it to the DVR. I rarely go to the theater any more to see first run films. Despite the fact there were many good actors in this movie, and they didn't attempt to make it into some cheesy rip-of...f/update of "The Exorcist," I still was happy when it ended and wondered why I sat through the entire thing. The subject of good vs. evil always manages to pull people in to see movies; a good many people feel the need to believe and crave to be reminded what will happen to them if they don't live a proper and pious life. To each their own. I just don't buy into the fact that I will be possessed by demons because I don't live a holy life. And apparently the story was about people being leery of accepting it, as well. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Gravity/antigravity. Dark/light. Good/evil. That's just the way of the world. The fact that I thought this might be a good movie really reminded me of just how bad things are coming out of Hollywood these days. Read more Less
