Pros: Wonderful and Scary
Cons: None
This is the first and scariest movie at the time(1983). There were other scary movies out but this blew them all away! It is still one of the best horror movies to this day. If you love horror movies this is a must. Two thumbs up here!!!
Pros: Bruce Campbell
Cons: none
This movie is definately a horror/comedy classic! I can watch it a million times and still laugh just as hard!
Pros: Original
Cons: Nothing
A must see! Combines humor and horror all in the same film.
Pros: Bought it at www.USdvdMonster.com
Cons: Almost paid too much somwhere else and that's a fact
I compared prices on this DVD with www.USdvdMonster.com and found in most all cases when you add shipping cost USdvdMonster.com was less expensive. USdvdMonster.com only charged us $1.58 to ship compared to a $3.50 charge or more at all other Internet stores we compared. I whole heartedly recommend trying that website. I buy DVDs weekly and with my research www.USdvdMonster.com has the best overall prices on the Internet when you add shipping costs to the total purchase amount. Remember that most retailers make up for discounted retail prices in shipping cost
Alright, This movie was awesome. You can find it at your nearest entertainment section. Thats right, shop smart shop S-Mart. Well there was non of that in this movie, thie frist of it kind. You get to see a side to Ash that was never seen before. A big old wussy. Or the anti-hero. Sam Raimi did an excellent job in creating this charactor. The movie is cheesey, sure sure, but thats all that horror movie are. Some say this movie was a comedy. of the record, this movie scared me the first time i watched.
rooooooooooooooooooooockk
kkkkkkkkkkkkk1r!!!! dnkl
this is definitly one of the great horor classics, a must have for any movie fan
Yeah so Bruce Campbell was recently in town touring with his new book "If chins could kill..." And I had the fourtune of meeting him and getting his autograph and getting pictures taken with him. He is soooooo cooool I grew up on his movies. I dont mean to gush but you all have to agree with me.
when i first saw this movie..i was in my 20's. and thought it was a funny movie..even though Evil Dead II was funnier..but all in all this one is the startfor 2 sequels
Whoever gave this review deserves severe torture. Army of darkness is the best by far. I sat through this movie and as far as anything spectacular it was nill. And if you think head bashing of women is the funniest thing you've ever seen then you should have your testicles cut with a butter knife and shoved up your anus. I will have to say though Bruce Cambell Rocks!
covered with skin and written with blood. No problem, play a recorder reading this words out loud and nothing will happen to my girlfriend and friends. This is the begining of the classic series that made Bruce Campbell a star. He was great fighting the evil awaken only to continue his fight in "Evil dead II (different story)" and Army of Darkness.
I thought that evil dead was most of all funny when the possesed people get the "Total Bodily Dismemberment" act takes place the funniest part of the movie is when ash grabs that huge wooden block and beats it repeaditly on a girls head.
Though I say it all in my review subject, I have more to tell about this low-budget wonder. What makes The Evil Dead my all-time favorite horror movie is that this is the only one that left me literally sleepless for almost a week! The movie as you may observed almost has all the elements (yes, even a little of a love story!) but Director Sam Raimi certainly makes no waste of his inventive mind by throwing in all the elements of a 'real' and classic horror movie like using camera movement as a point of view of 'The Force' in the movie. Not to mention that this movie doesn't even have enough budget to at least level with big budgeted movie of its genre. Looking for a real 'scary movie'? Join Sam and Bruce Campbell for a ride!
If you like to be entertained by a comical scary movie then strap yourself in and sit tight!
Easily one of the best horror movies ever made. Director Sam Raimi's first film is a
masterpiece. Use of graphic special effects
and a twisted plot, biulds around every corner. Bruce Cambell makes an excellent
action hero, with plenty of great one liners.
Evil Dead is basically a horror/comedy.Still,
it does best with just horror fans.
From A Very Cold Place called "Minnesota"
Ya see folks this is one of my favorite movies of all time. So when I first got my DVD player I unfortunately bought the movie only edition from Anchor Bay. Good edition, but lacking in extras. A couple of months later this edition comes out and I finally have it. What kept me from buying it? The price is a little steep, but well worth it for the carnage and truly if you're a "Dead" fan like I am. One thing I did like better about Anchor Bay's version was it had far more chapter stops. Where this one only contains about 16. Anyway, loved the extras on this one. You get the same old theatrical trailer. You get 20 minutes of alternate takes, which I enjoyed and for only twenty minutes it really gives you a knack on how to shoot a low budget film. The commentary was great. Sam Raimi's was more serious and informational. Where Bruce Campbell's just made me flat out laugh, but I wish they had done one combined. Neither of these tracks came close to the gem Anchor Bay released on "Evil Dead 2" probably the best commentary track I've ever heard. I've said enough, buy this or I'll swallow your soul. I give this DVD a 9.5 out of 10.
I to say it, but Evild II was the first and only one I liked by Raimi. I thought he was a great director and looked forward to seeing this for weeks before I bought it and it really isn't very good. The getting d by nature is the only part I cared for, everything else just dragged more and more as you waited in super suspence preparing yourself for the next trick with a devious little smile until "!"... the scene ended and nothing happenned. A few gory parts did happen, but mostly you're just prepared for something that never happens. Evil II was a great flick, but if you want an equal to it see Alive... this one just let me sink into my seat and dim my eyes in boredom.
Lots and lots of gore, but still a wild and frightening classic that will make you never look at trees the same way again! Loved the special edition DVD with Bruce Campbell's commentary.
I'm a big evil dead, evil dead 2 and army of darkness fan. I have an alternate e-mail address that is...
e.d.armyofdarkness@... I won't tell you the rest becauseyou might pretend to be Bruce Campbell and fool me.
that is only meant for Bruce Campbell. I have is e-mail. If you want it, give me a ringy, dingy, dingy.
This movie is fun and entertaining to watch, it's not scary at all but it is very humorous. I'm a die hard Evil Dead fan as you can tell by my screen name. I love them all but the first one is always the best.
I thought this movie was very intense the first time i saw it. I was literally on the edge of my seat and scared
Great! the best terror film ever!!
Exellent on special edition DVD!!
Absolutely the scarriest movie ever. Also very funny.
I found this film hysterical. Its so gross its funny. It can't be taken too seriously as a horror film and i believe that was not the original intention was. A good film if ur in the mood for some rather dark humour. Or if ur into posessed hands, dancing headless girl friends, granny's in the basement or zooming around the forest with a sore throat.
"It stupid but at the same time scary"
IT can match up to the Exorcist.
CLASSIC!!! NOTHIN LIKE A TRIP TO THE WOODS WITH YOUR FRIENDS HUH? GOTTA WATCH THIS ONE, JUST TO SEE BRUCE CAMPBELL AS "ASH"
CLASSIC HORROR ROLE!!!
GOOD JOB!!!!
